Dear Friends

Dawson Wittmann with his parents
Ryan and Olivia

What a blessing it was to baptize three babies in worship last Sunday. There is such joy that comes with baptism - the joy of having young parents promise to raise and nurture their child in the faith; the joy of joining the little ones to the body of Christ; the joy of the congregation promising to support  the parents  as they teach their children to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Alexa and Nicholas Ianniello
with their parents Lauren and Nick

This Sunday the theme of joy will be continuing as we look again at Psalm 51. It is what is known as a penitential psalm and is traditionally read as part of the Ash Wednesday service. It is a prayer for inward and spiritual renewal; a prayer to be forgiven and restored to a right relationship with God.

The psalmist wrote, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

At the conclusion of the sermon  I will be offering anointing with oil.  Anointing has long been associated in the Bible with the presence of the Holy Spirit and it is a symbolic way of receiving God's healing grace. When we do, we too can proclaim along with the psalmist, "Restore to me the joy of your salvation and sustain in me a willing spirit." (Psalm 51:12)

Join us for a joyful service of worship this Sunday.

Peace and Blessings
Linda

POINT BEACH PREP

This Week at Point Beach Prep

This week our Pre-K class met Mr. V and his violin.  We learned the sight word "van."  Our American Sign Language is the letter V and "violin."  At our project table we made volcanoes, letter V vases, and painted with vegetables.  We read Victor Vito, Clever Tom and the Leprechaun, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Olivia was one of our Students of the Week.  Her Mom came in on St. Patrick's Day and brought magic treasure shamrocks.  They were made with baking soda and had trinkets hidden inside them.  The children were given 3 different colors of vinegar and a dropper to dispense the vinegar.  When the vinegar touched the baking soda, there was a reaction.  The baking soda dissolved the shamrocks and the children discovered the treasures.  It was so cool!  She also read us a story. Thank you to her family!

Aiden was also Student of the Week.  His Mom came in and read us a story.  We all got to wear Superhero masks during the story.  Then she made a delicious smoothie for us with bananas, blueberries, orange juice and spinach. The children gave it a thumbs up!  What a healthy start to our day!  Thank you to Aiden's family!

Our Nursery class met the letter puppet V the vulture.  They welcomed Spring's anticipated arrival by working on Spring artwork for the bulletin board.  They learned a new song called "Spring is Here."  They have been enjoying Show and Tell, where they bring in an item that begins with our letter of the week.  This week they saw many interested things including vans, violins, vegetables and many vehicles.

On Wednesday and Thursday both classes did Science experiments.  We simulated a volcanic eruption using food coloring, baking soda and vinegar.  We made a pretend volcano out of play dough.  We poured vinegar over the baking soda and food coloring and it reacted by fizzing up and

out our volcanoes.  Science is fun!

This St. Patrick's Day we all enjoyed the music of bagpipes and drums!  Jayce's Grandmom belongs to the Pipes and Drums of the Jersey Shore, Friendly Sonsof the Shillelagh.  She brought about 10 bagpipers and drummers who played for us on the playground while we danced some jigs.  It was awesome!

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School Recap

Last Week:
We had so much fun learning about the true story of  St, Patrick and why he was important to the church. No, he had nothing to do with snakes or leprechauns, but he did overcome some very hard times and help spread Christianity!   We had some delicious treats, listened to Irish music, and did some fun crafts (....some of us may have gotten a little silly with the shamrock stickers....)

This Week:
We will be discussing when Peter told Jesus her believed Jesus is the Messiah.  We will go on to discuss why Jesus didn't want the disciples to say anything more about who they believed Jesus really was.

Also, mark your calendars for the 2nd annual PPPC Easter Egg Hunt on Easter morning at 10:15, immediately following Sunday School!

See you on SundayPeace and Blessings.

Come to the Waters - The 2015-2016 Horizons Bible Study

Come to the Waters by the Rev. Judy Record Fletcher is the Horizons Bible Study for 2015-16. The lessons of the study feature stories and images of water in the Bible. Just as water nourishes our bodies, so the passages on water nourish our spirits. The study opens with the chaotic waters of Creation and ends with the River of Life in the Revelation to John. Baptism, the absence of water, and streams of mercy are some of the other lesson themes.

The full program begins with dinner on TUESDAY and ends with lunch on THURSDAY. Registration and check-in will start on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.

Cost covers meals and a shared double room in one of our lodges. If requested at registration, a limited number of private rooms may be available at an additional cost.  A flyer  is also available.

Call 845-786-5674 x 107 with any questions.
