IF THIS GUY CAN DO IT...
THEN WHY NOT YOU?
That's Stephen Colbert, of course - who, on television, makes no secret of his Christianity. Not every Christian gets ashes on Ash Wednesday, of course, but many find the tradition a meaningful way to be begin Lent.

After a little snowfall, we want you all to know that THE ASH WEDNESDAY SOUP SUPPER AND COMMUNION SERVICE IS STILL ON! The sidewalks are cleared, the church parking lot and nearby on-street parking places are plowed, and we'll have runners ready to meet you at your car and carry in your soup pot, if that would help you.

6:00 on Wednesday, February 17 for the supper, followed by the informal worship service at 7:00. All ages welcome (activities available for young kids). Bring a pot of soup to share, if you can; or, if you're coming from work or errands and just don't have enough simmer-on-the-stove time, then please - just come. There's always plenty of soup!

Now that we've told you the Soup Supper is still on, please check out the action item below - your quick signature on an online petition could make a big difference for local Superstorm Sandy relief efforts!

From our partners at the Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group...

We urgently need your help to convey to our elected officials that the Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group is a SOLUTION for NJ families rebuilding from Superstorm Sandy.  If you value the DISASTER CASE MANAGEMENT, RREM EDUCATION & WORKSHOPS and the FINANCIAL RESOURCES that OCLTRG and its partners bring to the table to help households recover, our elected officials need to hear your voice.  Over the next week, we ask for your help to make sure that our elected officials know that funding for the Ocean County Long Term Recovery and its partners is not discretionary but a NECESSITY for families recovering.

* WE URGE YOU TO FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW THAT HAS BEEN IMPACTED OR HELPING IN RECOVERY EFFORTS.
