Picnic Time is Here!
This Sunday, July 20, 2014 10:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. (we recommend arriving between 9:30 and 10:00) Informal worship at 10:00 a.m.
Dear Friends,
We hope you'll be able to join us for the Church Picnic at Camp Zehnder, 3911 Herbertsville Road in Wall Township (near the place where Brick, Howell and Wall come together, just north of the Parkway overpass). Lots of great things are in store, which you can can read more about here. Don't worry if you didn't sign up, we're planning for some drop-in participants, so if that's you, consider yourself invited! The church is providing meat, rolls, beverages, and paper goods. Church members are asked to please bring an appetizer, salad, or dessert to share, if you can. Special thanks to a church family for supplying us with gourmet hamburgers and hotdogs! Donations are being accepted to help defray the upfront costs such as site rental, lifeguards, and paper products (please write"Picnic" on the memo line of your check.) The beautiful swimming pool will be open and available for our use. We've arranged to have the Camp's professional lifeguards on duty. You can come in your bathing suit if you want, but the Camp also has changing-rooms available. To anyone who hasn't been to Camp Zehnder before, we want to be sure you know how comfortable and welcoming the Camp is for people of all ages. This is by no means a "kids-" or "families-only" sort of event. Also, the facilities we'll be using are handicapped-accessible. There will be something for everyone. THERE WILL BE NO WORSHIP SERVICE AT THE CHURCH this Sunday (July 20). The advance weather forecast looks GREAT - and a large white tent will easily provide shelter from the sun for all of us. On Sunday, July 20, we will gather at Camp Zehnder beginning at 9:30 a.m. for 10:00 Sunday Worship led by Linda Chase. For those willing there will be a time for sharing of how you have seen the spirit of God at work in and through PPPC. Music will be provided by Sara Hoey at the keyboard playing some favorite hymns. Following the service, we'll have an old-time church picnic including games, fellowship, SWIMMING, fishing, and of course a delicious array of food as only Presbyterians can put on. Hamburgers, hot dogs, rolls, lemonade, iced tea, and water will be provided by the church as well as the paper goods. Camp Zehnder pool YMCA Camp Zehnder located on Herbertsville Road in Brick has it all. A large swimming pool with changing rooms, flush toilets, walking trails, large fields for games, and fishing in their own pond. Again Master Fisherman Bob Hankins will be on hand with poles, bait, and everything you'd need to catch a big one! Come!! Relax!! Enjoy visiting with your church friends!! If there's someone from the church you haven't gotten to know yet, this is the perfect time to do so!! We already have over 100 people signed up. You won't want to miss out on the fun!

THE YOUTH CONNECTION HAVE RETURNED FROM WASHINGTON - They will be sharing their experiences in the July 27 worship service. You won't want to miss it.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO VOLUNTEERED WITH IHN - Thank you to everyone who helped with hosting our most recent IHN guests. Dorothy Tolley received quite a few comments from our guests that our church members were so welcoming and kind. Thank you for being a part of this mission right here in our own community.
THIS SUMMER when the weather gets hot and muggy please remember a few important items to keep our costs down. Do not prop open the doors to the outside for extended periods of time. If you are the last person to leave a room please turn the lights off and A/C up to 80°. The Church Fellowship Room door leading to the bathroom hallway should be kept closed at all times. Besides being a fire door, it keeps the A/C in the Fellowship Room. Also please make sure all doors are locked if you are the last person to leave the building. Please do not assume someone else will do it for you.

Registration Forms can be downloaded or picked up in the Narthex and returned to the church office.
We could use help in the planning and during the week.
Teen helpers are especially welcome!
Register for VBS at the Picnic.
Look for the balloons to sign up.

Point Beach Prep Camp
Art Instructor Karen Norby visited our class this week to explore the art of puppetry. Finger, hand, rod, and marionette puppets were introduced and demonstrated to our campers. Mrs. Norby demonstrated how to make a simple puppet from folded paper and how even our arms could be used as a stage. Using pre- folded construction paper the children created animal puppets (real or fantasy) by adding various shapes (i.e. circles, rectangles and triangles) to their puppets to create teeth, eyes, ears, fangs, horns, etc. Thank you Mrs. Norby, what a wonderful day!

Urgent Need for School Kits
There is an urgent need for CWS school kits. We will be collecting them in the usual box in the North Hall, and the deadline is July 14th. Please help if you can.
Busy Hands has some bags, if you want one, they will be in the PW box in the church office, please take only what you will use for school kits.
Here is what goes into the kit:
All items should be placed in a 12" x 14" to 14" x17" finished size cotton or lightweight canvas bag with cloth handles. (Please, no reusable shopping bags or backpacks).
The processing/shipping cost is $2 per kit. Please do not put the money in the bag. Either give the money to your circle treasurer* or put it in an envelope labeled "CWS School Kits" and bring it to the office.
