Dear Friends,
I'm writing this from the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), meeting in Detroit, Michigan this week. Jim McGuire from our church is with me; he's an elected Commissioner to the General Assembly. (I'm just here to observe, and to help.)
It's always a great experience to see the larger church gathered together: so many different people from so many different places, from this country and from around the world.
The Assembly, as always, is wrestling with difficult issues... the nature of marriage, peacemaking in the Middle East, how to BE the church in a rapidly changing culture. It gets difficult at times, when feelings run strong and opinions are vigorously shared. Yet, through it all, there's a sense of the Lord's leading.
The theme of this 221st General Assembly is "Abound in Hope," from Romans 15:13. I'll be arriving back home just hours before I'll be preaching on Sunday, so you'll forgive me, I trust, if my thoughts are not so well-put-together. I'll be speaking from the heart, though, about ways I've been seeing the Holy Spirit at work in the church this week.
Hope you can be there!
Pastor Carl

Noisy Offering
This Fourth Sunday of the month we will be receiving the "Noisy Offering." We will be accepting contributions to Cents-Ability, a hunger ministry of the Presbytery of Monmouth. Some of the money raised through the Cents-Ability program returns to our community, benefitting St. Gregory's Pantry. So, go through those change dishes and penny jarsthat are cluttering up the house. Bring the change with you to church: let's make a little noise for a worthy cause!

"Never stop praying, especially for others. Always pray by the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for God's people." - Ephesians 6:18 (CEV)
The Prayer Family for the week of June 22 is the Manzo/Wisniewski family. Let us be prayerfully aware of Michael, Diane, Sara and Amy, as well as all our members and friends.
Other prayer concerns: The family of Harold Geene; Les Thornton; Heidi Steinert; Jason Gallagher (brother of Ami Gallagher); Susan Robbins; Audrey Pearce; all those in the military, as well as those struggling with addictions and mental illness.

SUMMER GENEROSITY - Wherever you find yourself during these summer months, we hope you'll continue to remember the church in your financial giving, even if you aren't present each Sunday in worship. You may want to take advantage of our secure online giving option, which is a great way to maintain your regular giving even while you're away. You can even pre-plan automatic deductions from your bank account for whatever dates you specify. Thanks for being a good Christian steward, all year round!
ELIZABETH DEROSA IN FIDDLER ON THE ROOF - This Summer Elizabeth DeRosa will be in the Goodspeed production of Fiddler on the Roof. The show opens on June 27 and continues until Sept 12. Robin and Joe DeRosa will be attending a matinee on July 9 and the evening show on July 24, if anyone would like to join them. The historic Goodspeed Opera House is home to the American musical! Set along the tranquil Connecticut River, their two intimate theaters bring you closer to the excitement of live musicals. The beautiful surrounding countryside is brimming with restaurants, shops, and galleries for a get-away. Tickets or more information can be found online at www.goodspeed.org
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CLAREMONT - On the 4th Sunday of the month our church takes on the responsibility for a service at the Claremont Nursing Home. This short service is held at their facility from 2:30 to 3:00 pm. We need volunteers to lead a simple worship service. Generally there are two people to lead this service. A scripture reading, a short message (five minutes), and a couple of hymns and you have made their day. Your ideas and suggestions are also welcome. There will be a sign up sheet in the North Hall- or contact Randy Crate at (732)899-1038. The following dates are open in 2015 January 25, February 22, March 22, April 26, May 24, and June 28.

News About the Church Picnic
On Sunday, July 20th, we will once again have our Church Worship and Picnic at Camp Zehnder.
Following the service, we will have an old time church picnic including games, fellowship, SWIMMING, fishing, and of course a great spread of FOOD as only Presbyterians can put on. Hamburgers, hot dogs, rolls, lemonade, ice tea, and water will be provided by the church as well as the paper goods. Sign-up sheets to bring an appetizer, salad, or dessert will be out soon.
YMCA Camp Zehnder located on Herbertsville Road in Brick has it all. Facilities include a covered pavilion, large swimming pool with changing rooms, flush toilets, walking trails, large fields for games, and fishing in their own pond. Once again our own "Fishing Pro" will be there to help with poles, bait, and everything you need.
Anyone interested in help organize this fun-filled day can contact Sue Hankins.

Mission Trip This Summer
The Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church has a record setting number this year. We are sending 18 people to Washington DC to work with the homeless and hungry population. There are 7 adults and 11 youth participating.
With such a great response from the youth, comes a great responsibility for the church. As it stands now, we have paid over $6,000 from the mission trip account and our own fundraising account for the expenses associated with sending such a large group on a mission trip. We are now roughly $2,000 short of buying train tickets to transport us all down to DC.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! Please look at the numbers breakdown listed below and see if you can make a donation to cover some of the costs. We not only need to raise money for this trip, but for future trips as well. The money that has been spent is also money that the Youth Connection had set aside for program expenses. In response to the church deficit, the youth gave back their budgeted $200 for the year. We are, quite frankly, running on hope and faith. Please help us and donate any amount to the Youth Connection for this mission trip and more. Thank you.
The breakdown looks like this
Train - $135 pp
YSOP weeklong work fees - $138 pp
Lodging - $168 pp
Food - $50 pp (approx.)
All together is about $491 per person. So that times 18 people is $8,838!

What's New In Glory to God?
The Glory to God Presbyterian hymnal is now in our pews! We'll be dedicating the new hymnals in a special celebration in our regular worship service on Sunday, June 29th. This hymnal - the best-selling in Presbyterian history - includes all the familiar hymns we're used to singing, but offers a whole range of new hymns as well. Each week in this space, we'll share a video highlighting one of the great new songs from Glory to God. This week's selection is "Gather Us In." Click on the image below to have a listen!

Additional Hymnals Needed
We are in need of approximately 12 more Glory to God hymnals in order to cover the needs of peak-attendance worship services.
Anyone who is interested in donating a hymnal in honor or memory of a loved one, at a cost of $22 per book, please contact the church office.
Thank you!
