Dear Friends, This Sunday you will notice that we are focusing on Psalm 23. There are several hymns in our hymnal that are based on Psalm 23. We will be singing four of them. We are doing that because first off, I like them, all of them. Secondly, it's rather like the Taize singing we did Maundy Thursday. If we sing something over and over so we are not even conscious of the words themselves, the message sinks into our very soul and takes root there. By singing different hymns all based on Psalm 23, we hear how composers came to interpret this psalm. It is like reading different translations of the Bible. Different words in English are used for one word of Hebrew from the Old Testament or Greek in the New Testament. Each word helps to interpret the word giving us a fuller, deeper meaning of what the Biblical writer was wanting to say. Come this Sunday and allow the message from Psalm 23 of God's mothering, God's guidance and protection to fill you and strengthen you. See you in church. Peace and Blessings, Pastor Linda

This is her newest book about which she says, "I think growing older is both funny and sad, but mostly it just makes me grateful to be alive and able to reflect....I hate it when people are ashamed of being old. We should be proud!" If you would like to be part of a class using this book, please let Linda know. A sign-up sheet is found in the Narthex. The cost of the book is $10. Day and time to be determined depending on response.

Handbell Recognition This Sunday
I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the members of the Choral Bells for their dedication and the many hours of work they have given to this unique form of music worship.
We ring in four church services from September through June and participate in the annual invitation-only bell festival at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River. In addition, this year we are honored to be playing at the wedding of Courtney Norton and John Rzeplinski. We are also blessed with a new member, Frank Perkowski, who brings much enthusiasm to the group. I cannot stress the importance of every ringer, as each set of bells that a member rings maintains the continuity of the entire group. And so, to each and every ringer I extend my deepest thanks for your continued devotion and support to your church, to the group and to me.

What's New In Glory to God? The new Glory to God Presbyterian hymnal we'll introduce later this spring includes all the familiar hymns we're used to singing, but offers a whole range of new hymns as well. Each week in this space, we'll share a video highlighting one of the great new songs from Glory to God. This week's selection is "Will You Come and Follow Me (The Summons)." This Week In Sunday School

This week we will be reviewing the various mothers in the Bible and the role they played. We will compare them to our own mothers and think about what Mother's Day is.

Thank you to everyone who came to Friday Fun Night, it was a great success. We had a great turnout of children from the church and community who attended. I think the kids really enjoyed hanging out with their church friends outside of Sunday school. I look forward to planning another one at the end of this month.
Sunday School meets every week after the Time for Children at 10:20. All children 3 years through 6th grade are welcome. All older kids in Youth Connection are welcome to join us to assist the children if they would like. Hope to see you there. Sarah Morrison

Summer Mission Trip Planning Meeting This Tuesday
This Tuesday evening, May 13, at 7:00 pm, in the Fellowship Room, is an opportunity to learn more about our summer mission trip, July 6-10, to Washington, DC. Participants will be involved in mission projects in the inner city, in a well-supervised setting. While primarily designed for youth, there is certainly opportunity for adults to be involved as well.
The mission trip is a partnership with the Youth Service Opportunities Project (YSOP), an outreach group founded in New York City in 1983 by members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). The group has been offering mission opportunities in Washington, DC since 2003. YSOP is committed to helping young people become part of the solution to societal problems by showing them how even their smallest actions can make a difference in the lives of others. Come one, come all! Here's a short video prepared by a college-age group that participated in a similar YSOP mission project in Washington, DC: | Adelphia University YSOP Service Trip |

This week we honored our Moms with a Mother's Day Tea. The students sang songs on stage for their moms, made them special projects, and then sat with their moms at decorated tables in the upstairs annex to enjoy tasty treats. Since we have so many students, we had three Teas! We received lots of help with set up and clean up from the PW Women's Circles. We are appreciative to have had so many volunteers to ensure it would all be a success. Many thanks to the PW!
On behalf of the staff I would like to say thank you to the Point Beach Prep Board, who gave us a wonderful lunch for teacher appreciation week. It was delicious and very thoughtful. It truly made us feel appreciated! We are grateful to have such a supportive Board!
We are pleased to announce that we have 35 students enrolled already for next year! We have quite a few children on our Nursery waiting list, as that class is closed out already. We do still have some space available in the Pre-K for the 2014/2015 school year. If anyone has questions they may contact Devlin House, Director, at 732-701-9900.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Moms! We wish you a relaxing, enjoyable weekend! Devlin House
