Friends, It's no accident that the words "communion" and "community" sound so much alike. Oftentimes, we think of our partaking of the bread and the cup as a private encounter with God, but there's so much more to it than that. The invitation we commonly use in our communion celebration speaks of people coming "from north and south and east and west" to sit together at the Lord's table. While those words refer to the joining-together of all peoples during the coming reign of God, we also enjoy something of that divine community in the here and now. At the Lord's table, whatever divisions there may be between us no longer seem so important. The barriers fall. We discover that we are all one in our hunger, and one in our dependence on Christ to fulfill our need. This Sunday, Lory Ryan, a candidate for ministry of New Brunswick Presbytery and a former student of mine, returns to the pulpit to proclaim the word, before we partake of the sacrament. Our traditional Communion Breakfast will follow, in the Education Annex.

Dear Friends,
A great big thank you to the wonderful staff and congregation of PPPC. You were so supportive of me during the 5 months that Carl was away from the church. So many of you asked me what you could do to help me or told me that you were praying for me. It was a wonderful feeling knowing that I was in your thoughts and prayers.
It was also wonderful to see everyone pulling together and working together not only for the good of PPPC but also as a witness to your faith in Jesus Christ.
We are thankful that Carl is able to resume his duties at PPPC. I pray that the spirit of cooperation and dedication continues and know that I will always cherish the unique time you and I had together.
Peace and Blessings,
Linda

Single Worship and Alternative Worship Survey Has Arrived
When Superstorm Sandy hit in the fall of 2012 it not only devastated much of the shore, but it sidelined goals and ambitions of many people, businesses and churches in our area. One of those goals our church was looking at, was to add an Alternative Worship Service with more contemporary components, to be held on a different day then our current service. This way we would not be taking anything away from those who enjoy our traditional Sunday service, while adding something that has been frequently asked about over recent years. It is time to reassess and move forward with the interest that was expressed back in 2012.
We are also as promised, asking for some preliminary feedback from the decision last year to have one worship serviceon Sunday instead of two. We are hoping that after trying it for several months you may have some initial views or thoughts and will offer them to session.
Now is your opportunity to comment with a combined survey on both topics. This will help session decide which direction, you the congregants want to see for the future of our church. Please keep in mind that if we cannot garner enough support and a physical willingness to help make an Alternative Worship Service happen, then we will no longer be able to attempt this service. Now is the time to express your views on both these subjects, so whether you are happy, unhappy, or somewhere in the middle, in regards to either of them, please take a few minutes to fill out the survey so we have current information for future decisions.

Thank You, Youth Sunday Participants!
Last Sunday was Youth Sunday. The Youth Connection, Sunday School and Dove Choir organized and led worship. It was a great opportunity for the children and youth to learn how to plan a service and lead the service. I particularly loved how all the children and youth had a special part.
The Sunday School worked very hard at learning "Jesus Loves me" in sign language. We had fun teaching this song to the congregat ion on Youth Sunday. It was a nice chance for the children to be the leaders and teachers of the church.
The Youth Group did a wonderful job of planning and leading the service. I was very impressed with how they read the scriptures and prayers so clearly and thoughtfully. The sermon was on where the Youth see God in their lives. They said they see God in their friends, schools, churches, music and interpretive dance.
Last but not least, the Dove Choir performed one of my favorite songs "O Magnify the Lord." It was awesome to see the children use music and movement to express themselves.
Thank you to all the Youth, Sunday School and Doves for making this service a big hit. Also thank you to all the volunteers who helped. We could not have done it without your support.
