Dear Friends,
This Sunday is our Congregational Meeting. This meeting is more important then you think. The purpose of the meeting is to establish the Pastor's terms of call, and elect persons to serve on Session and the Board of Deacons. There will be a review of the church's financial reports and budget for 2014. The meeting will also address any appropriate business brought forth by members of the congregation from the floor. We sometimes fail to understand the importance of attending the congregational meeting. What makes this congregational meeting important in the life of the Church? - Come find out what is actually being presented verses what you think might be happening in our Church.
- The meeting will be constructive. An agenda has been prepared with specific significant items to be discussed. We aim to be clear, precise and focused.
- Your participation shows support of the leadership. We have many wonderful volunteers who provide leadership in many areas. Won't you consider showing your support of their time and effort by giving them your time and input?
- The bond of unity as the body of Christ is strengthened. Unity is the quality or state of being made one, the coming together of ideas, the unifying of thoughts based on integrity. Unity among believers allows us to work out our differences with the bond of love. Paul tells the church in Philippians 2:2 Make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
Please strongly consider making every effort to attend the meeting this Sunday. The future of our Church depends on all its members. See you in Church this Sunday. Peace and Blessings, Linda

Kenya Mission Trip Are you open to thinking outside the box? Would you be open to a totally new and exciting adventure? Read what follows and before you say, "Oh, I could never do that" ask yourself, what if you did? Our reading from Matthew's gospel for this Sunday has Jesus inviting his first disciples to "Follow me..." Are you willing to follow him.....all the way to Kenya? MBF (Medical Benevolence Foundation) invites YOU to participate in a Medical Mission trip to Tumutumu, Kenya in June. June 6 - 21, 2014 Sign up for this opportunity to meet and serve beside fellow brothers and sisters in Kenya. This is a great opportunity to help make an impact! Tumutumu Hospital, started in 1909, is located in the Central Highlands of Kenya, 80 miles north of Nairobi. It is a 203-bed hospital, owned and governed by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa. Tumutumu provides general health care, surgery, pediatrics, OB/GYN and outpatient services. The hospital also has a Nursing School for training Registered Community Health Nurses. MBF is currently managing a project to upgrade the facilities and capacity of the nursing school. There is a great need for surgeons on this trip - however, there is a need for all medical personnel including, but not limited to: physicians, surgeons, nurses, family practitioners, OB/GYN, internists, pediatricians, dentists, dental hygienists, physical therapists, lab techs, IT and communications, pastors and lay people. You do not need to be in the medical profession to go on this trip - there will always be a job to be done. Medical volunteers will serve under the direction and supervision of Tumutumu Hospital staff, participating as appropriate in hospital rounds, outpatient clinics, rural health clinics and public health education forums. Non-medical volunteers will assist in the support departments and are invited to serve as "prayer warriors" and spiritual support to hospital staff, students and patients as requested. Volunteers and hosting staff will have opportunities to exchange knowledge and participate in discussion forums, learning from one another and building relationships. For more information email or call Sue Haas at shaas@mbfoundation.org or 800-547-7627, ext. 109. More information is also availabe on our website. Blessings, Andy E Andrew Mayo CEO MBF (Medical Benevolence Foundation)

Last week, we enjoyed learning about Martin Luther King and how he changed history. We wrote Acrostic Poems for the word Freedom. Here are two poems from our older kids group:

We also discussed peace, equality and our dreams. I was impressed with the students' great responses.
This week we are going to continue to learn about the genealogy of Jesus. Our bible scripture is Matthew 1:17-25. Joseph is Jesus' earthly father and a descendant of King David is the main idea of our lessons today.
Be sure to come to Sunday School to do some fun crafts, games and to learn about God!
Also, I would like to recognize Keith Reilly for having perfect attendance.
He is one of our 5th grade extraordinaire students and a blast to hang out with. Thank you, Keith for making a commitment to Sunday School.

Souper Bowl of Caring
" Lord, as we enjoy the super bowl, remind us that there are people without a bowl of soup."
Souper Bowl of Caring is a nation wide event held on Super Bowl Sunday each year. Our youth help collect the money and food that we donate to a local charity. Last year, we raised over $300 for the SPCA to help feed the hungry animals that lost their homes and families during Hurricane Sandy. This year, we are collecting for souper bowl a little differently. Please look for specially marked envelopes for your contribution. These envelopes can be placed directly into the offering plate, and will be counted next Sunday by the Youth Connection. We will report back on how much we collect and where we chose to donate! |
