Weekly News for

Sunday,

January 5, 2014

Sunday is the second Sunday after Christmas and the following day is Epiphany. Epiphany celebrates the visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus. This Sunday, Courtney Norton will be speaking about trusting in the Lord.

Just think about the trust the Magi must have had when they followed the star to a new and totally unknown place.

Throughout this next year the Lord will have many things planned for each of us. It is a lot easier to say "thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven", when you rely upon and trust the one who leads you.

Join us this Sunday as we start the New Year.   Happy New Year!

Wise Man on Camel

Happy New Year! Great job to all who participated in our Children's Christmas Service it was a big hit! Thank you again to all the teachers and families their time and support! If you have any pictures from the service I would love to put them in our newsletter.  Please email them to me at [email protected] (Sarah Morrison).

I am excited to start this year's lessons with information on Jesus' genealogy and the people who helped Jesus.  This week we will be learning about the Three Kings and the gifts they brought Jesus (Matthew 2: 1-12).  A prize will be given to the children who can name the three gifts they brought and or what the word Magi means.

Next week, we will learn about Jesus son of David.  The Hebrew term Messiah means anointed one.  King David and his ancestors were viewed with great reverence because they ruled for God.  Jesus was a descendent of this line.   We will explore this lesson through various crafts, murals and games.  Don't miss the fun!

Sunday School meets every week in the Christian Education Building across the street from 10:20 to 11:20.  It is available to children preschool through fifth grade.  We welcome all children and visitors.
