Dear Friends,
We welcome the Merry Month of May in the Napa Valley. April showers brought greenery to the parched hillsides and poppies dot the valley landscape. It is a beautiful time to visit and I am blessed to call it home!
On Sunday, May 11 we celebrate all the moms at Cindy's and Mustards with special menus including Quiche Florentine, Leg of Lamb and Candice's Chocolate Pecanutter Pie! Be sure to book your Mother's Day reservation now. It is one of the busiest restaurant days of the year. This month's Pour-off Pair-Off (Thursdays at Mustards) highlights Salmon in all its glory. At Cindy's, Cooking from the Whole Beast continues...Jim will highlight naturally-raised California beef from Five Dot Ranch in mouth-watering braises, roasts, and charcuterie. The annual Cooking for Solutions at the Monterey Bay Aquarium takes place May 16-18. It is a fun event with chefs and wineries serving treats throughout the breathtaking aquarium. Visit and see the newly opened Tentacles exhibit featuring octopus, squid, and cuttlefish. Remember to book a lunch reservation at Cindy's Waterfront for wonderful food with a view. Here's a fun video I did about the restaurant! Cindy's Shout-out: You may know that John and I were involved in a horrible traffic accident on April 6. We are lucky to be alive and our hearts go out to the family of the young boy who did not survive.
I want to thank all of our family and friends who have supported us during this difficult time. Your words of encouragement and positive thoughts have helped immensely during my recovery. I especially want to thank the good Samaritans and emergency and medical personnel at the scene of the accident. The medical staff at the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa has been exceptional. And Cliff Lede and the construction team at Ledcor, who has made it possible for me to return home and live a better quality of life as I recover from my injuries.
Lastly, I want to thank Sean, Patrick, Michael, Jim, and all of the staff at Mustards and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen for continuing to support me, and to serve our customers, while I am recuperating. I may be homebound for awhile, but be rest assured the wonderful food, ambience, fun, and good cheer continue at my restaurants. Thank you as always for your continued support!
With Love,
