at Young Harris College for the upcoming month.

My first enrollment at Young Harris College was as a high school senior at the YHC Academy. I had previously attended three different high schools, and my dad (a Methodist minister) was being transferred to another church. To spare me from moving to a fourth high school, my parents decided that I would finish high school at the academy and then attend college at YHC.

President Charles Clegg made it possible, and it was an awesome opportunity that opened many doors for me. My work scholarship included serving in the dining hall, where I was assigned to two tables where the men's basketball team always ate. Can you imagine a shy 15-year-old girl in that situation on her first time away from home? There was never any incident of less-than-gentlemanly behavior toward me-the "Young Harris spirit" and "code of behavior" were both prevalent. During the time I was at YHC, Christian principles were emphasized with values I was allowed to carry into public schools and am still proud to claim and demonstrate in my life.

As the daughter of a Methodist minister, Young Harris College alumna Elizabeth Lobello, '02, called many small towns home in the north Georgia mountains while growing up. I knew that being immersed in God's beautiful creation in the mountains would be a wonderful way for me to begin my college career," she explained. Read more>>
