DSU Newsflash

Dear Friends,
The DSU runs on the fertile imaginations of youth and so it came as no surprise when students were told they were in charge for the day, they had a list of awesome ideas to implement. The Building Inspectors checked everyone into the building making sure backpacks and shoes were against the walls and out of harm's way. The Health and Safety officers monitored the bathroom to ensure all hands were thoroughly washed before snack. Top Chefs kicked the menu up a notch with chocolate milk and a few surprise M&M's hidden in the bottom of the cup of pretzels, sun chips and goldfish.

Our Dj's of the day turned up the jams with Don't Wake Me Up, Diamonds, Don't Stop the Party and Girl on Fire. The program committee decided on inside games Scattergories, Four Corners and a game room tournament for next week.

The paparazzi did what they do best, taking tons of action shots of kids having a blast. Our sanitation crew jumped into action cleaning tables and washing cups while our Our Overtime Advisers helped with homework and tidying up the lounge for the next day.

What's for sure, kids love responsibility and thinking on their feet. We love their wild imaginations to bring a constantly changing after school program, fresh perspective on events and curiosity about our community and world. Stay tuned for more innovative happenings in 2013.

Cheers!
Sue

Nothing's off limits.  We have DHS mentors skilled in all subjects ready to help where needed.  Take a leap and join us starting Wednesday Jan 23rd.  Drop-in fee is $10 per week - with all access to DSU from 2:45 to 5pm.
