Dear Friends, | Getting ready for the Dropping the Ball Dance
|
DSU is back in full swing with quintessential winter time fun planned for this chilly season. We welcomed several new DMS students to our After School Program this week, taking advantage of our special January to June rate and finding DSU to be a warm oasis in the center of the school campus. Our New Friday Only Overtime Program is filling up with a few spots still available, giving Alden students an opportunity to enjoy the best day of the week at DSU from 2pm to 5pm. Come to DSU to enjoy the outdoor fun including playing in the snow, cooking s'mores at our outdoor fire pit and then escape the cold and enjoy three floors of indoor fun with something for everyone. Details below! New this month, we invite registered DMS students to enjoy our mid-level lounge for homework club from 4pm to 5pm daily with tutoring assistance. Stay tuned as we announce even more programs for the DMS crowd, including a dedicated DMS youth counselor, DMS leadership program, and new enrichment activities. Please take a moment to review important program updates below including an invitation for DMS and DHS students next Sunday to hear speaker Matthew Martin on Hunger, our plan to keep the floors clean this winter, lost and found, a new knitting program, and our very important Annual Appeal. As always, please consult our web site for up to the minute program information and our calendar of events. Cheers! Sue Bradford, DSU Executive Director |

Bring Your Slippers to DSU
Keep the floors clean and safe from snow and mud
Baby, its cold outside! DSU is the perfect refuge on a chilly day with hot chocolate and all the winter favorites.
To reduce the mud and slippery floors, we ask students to remove their shoes in the lobby. Afternoon participants are welcome to bring in their slippers from home and enjoy the cozy indoors.

Sunday Night Out Jan. 13th Speaker Matthew Martin on Hunger
DMS and DHS students are invited to attend a special event at Pilgrim Church on Sunday, January 13th from 6:30 to 8:00pm.
Speaker Matthew Martin, the Regional Manager of New England, Outreach, Inc. - Kids Care will share his both personal and professional experience with the hungry and homeless.
Before he fought hunger, he experienced it. Matthew spent several months hungry and homeless during his college years. He will share his story and answer your questions. Q&A will be followed by dinner (Tex-Mex by Moe's Southwest Grill)
Matthew will share how he fell into hunger, how he overcame food scarcity and what inspired him to work for Kids Care. Learn how hunger is present even here in Duxbury and Plymouth County, how you can recognize hunger in another person and how you can help when you suspect someone is hungry.
This event is open to DMS and DHS students and there is no cost to attend. Please rsvp directly to Janna Guinen.
