So, About Last Night

(Don't worry, this will be short)

Last night at 9pm, I watched the State of the Union. President Obama shared with us his final speech from Washington, D.C. I actually like watching it because it gives me an insight of what is to come for the coming year. What I'm actually worried about is the conversations that happens on Facebook and social media.

The language that is used and the things that are said in either agreement or disagreement (especially) are horrible and degrading at times. Some of the language comes from Christians!

Here's what I posted last night:

Your words and actions should be like Christ. Disagree with honor. Agree and don't slam. No matter what he says and what you agree or disagree with, God is still sovereign and we need Him more than whatever either side suggests.

Pray for our leaders. Ask that the Lord will guide them and not politic. May God bless them and may we respond and act like the people of God that he has called us to be.
This Week at Grace Community
Chaplain Tom Beard will be sharing with us what God has laid on his heart this Sunday morning. We pray that God will speak through him to us. He will be sharing with us for the next two weeks!
Women of Grace Luncheon
This Saturday, January 16 at noon, the ladies of GCCN will meet for their monthly get together!  Our emphasis during our potluck luncheon will focus on our upcoming Family Night Potluck and DVD "The War Room."  We will work on ways this outreach can involve people from our church as well as from our community as a time of putting our lives into GOD's perspective and purpose that HE has for us.  We will be working on Covenant Prayer for our church as we go through this time of transition and preparation for our new pastor.  We will also begin to put in place a time of retreat with ladies from other local Nazarene Churches as well as "home missions" projects.  Any questions? Please talk to Sandi Weyna or JoAnne Oliver.
Student Ministries News
Tonight, we continue our theme on Purpose. What does God call us to? What are we here for? What am I supposed to do with my life? We discuss this at youth group tonight! See you at 7p!

The Refresh Weekend of Revival and Worship is this weekend! Talk to Pastor Matt for more information!
Family Night Potluck Dinner
On Saturday, January 30th at 6:00 p.m. a Family Night Potluck dinner will be held for our church family and friends as we reach out to our community to invite them in for a time of food, fellowship and inspiration. Ham and turkey will be provided but if  you could bring one of your favorite side dishes or desserts to complete this feast that would be great!  Please be in prayer for this time of reaching out to others.  Any questions please feel free to ask Sandi Weyna or JoAnne Oliver.
Grace Community Needs You!
Would you like to help the ministries of Grace Community? We are in need of office and computer people to help with the correspondence and outreach ministries of our church. Please contact Jon Lambert or JoAnne Oliver if you are interested in helping us.
Prayer Requests and Praises
Keep Linda Moore and the Griffis in prayer. Earl and Miriam are doing much better, but Linda is in the hospital for pneumonia and had a heart scare during.

During Christmas and New Year's, Pastor Matt's Dad was in the hospital for different ailments involving his pancreas and kidneys. Praise the Lord that he was discharged last night!

Keep these and the unspoken prayer requests that we have as a church.

Truth From God's Word
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way
