New Year, New You

"New year, new me!" has been one of the most common phrases during this time. Since we've turned the calendar page over to 2016, it's time to leave the things that weren't that great in 2015 and move on to greater and better things.

Well, I agree that we can move on with the new blessings of the new year and we can put the past behind us. I just wonder what we are going to do about it. You know there are people who will say "new year, new me!" and in turn that will not actually do anything about it. Then, (probably) look back on the year that past and say, that was bad, but 2017 will be a new year and a new me!

To me, that's insane

No, not the fact that the person is crazy, but the actions are. Some people say that when you do the same things over and over again expecting a new or different result, it's insane.

Christ did not die on the Cross for us for us to experience the same defeats over and over again. Jesus says in John 10:10 that he has come to give life to the fullest (or abundant life)!

Let us live 2016 with the new life, the abundant life that Christ gives us on the daily basis! The new refreshing life that God has for us everyday!

That's the new that I want.

This Week at Grace Community
Chaplain Tom Beard will be sharing with us what God has laid on his heart this Sunday morning. We pray that God will speak through him to us. He will be sharing with us for the next two weeks!
Women of Grace Luncheon
This Saturday, January 16 at noon, the ladies of GCCN will meet for their monthly get together!  Our emphasis during our potluck luncheon will focus on our upcoming Family Night Potluck and DVD "The War Room."  We will work on ways this outreach can involve people from our church as well as from our community as a time of putting our lives into GOD's perspective and purpose that HE has for us.  We will be working on Covenant Prayer for our church as we go through this time of transition and preparation for our new pastor.  We will also begin to put in place a time of retreat with ladies from other local Nazarene Churches as well as "home missions" projects.  Any questions? Please talk to Sandi Weyna or JoAnne Oliver.

Family Night Potluck Dinner
On Saturday, January 30th at 6:00 p.m. a Family Night Potluck dinner will be held for our church family and friends as we reach out to our community to invite them in for a time of food, fellowship and inspiration. Ham and turkey will be provided but if  you could bring one of your favorite side dishes or desserts to complete this feast that would be great!  Please be in prayer for this time of reaching out to others.  Any questions please feel free to ask Sandi Weyna or JoAnne Oliver
Prayer Requests and Praises
Keep Linda Moore and the Griffis in prayer. Earl and Miriam are doing much better, but Linda is in the hospital for pneumonia and had a heart scare during.

During Christmas and New Year's, Pastor Matt's Dad was in the hospital for different ailments involving his pancreas and kidneys. Praise the Lord that he was discharged last night!

Keep these and the unspoken prayer requests that we have as a church.
