Majoring in the Minors

I like Starbucks Hot Chocolate. I really do, it's delicious. The fact that it's like really expensive is a turn off, but it's tasty.

Starbucks is in the news this week because of the red Christmas cups that they are using for the holiday season. They don't say "Merry Christmas" or have snowflakes, mistletoe or any "holiday items" on it. It's just a simple red cup. Since Monday, people have declared that Starbucks is "anti-Christmas" and there is a War on Christmas.

All because of a cup.

Now, don't get me wrong, I do believe that there is and have evidence on there being a war between forces, just not Starbucks v Christmas. It's more like this. As Christians, we are told to go and make disciples of all people. To take a stand against injustice. To be a friend and brother/sister to people. To share God's love, Jesus' passion for us and the Holy Spirit's guidance. Why are we so caught up in the weird fights like why doesn't a cup that clearly isn't from an explicitly Christian company or that professes Christ at all not share in our beliefs?

The second half of 1 John 3:1 says "The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him." Instead of complaining about a cup of overpriced coffee/tea/hot chocolate, shouldn't we making Him known and serving them?
