This is a picture of my grandmother, Mercedes. I got to visited her this past weekend as I went home for a quick visit. She was visiting from Jamaica. (The actual island, not my hometown in Queens.) 

She's super cool, funny and extremely wise. She's 80+ years old, still plays the organ and piano for her church in Old Harbour Bay, Jamaica and still loves her some daytime soap operas.

She came to the states to have a series of doctor's appointments because of heart, leg and chest pain. However, one thing she doesn't do is complain. Everyday, she wakes up early and prays, sets her bed and watches her shows all in a lot of pain, yet she still says that the Lord will provide for her and her pain. She was actually more concerned about me and my new role here at the church. She shared that I shouldn't worry about what's to come and to not fret about the new challenges. "Rely on the Lord, read His word and pray that He will guide you in the proper path to take."
