Some Thoughts
from
Pastor Wes

"Farewell!"

This is my final column in this setting.
This weekend marks my final Sunday as Pastor of Grace Community Church.
How very quickly  16 years can go by!

It has been an unspeakable privilege and honor to serve God and this congregation.
Thank you, Lord!
Thank you,
dear people!

What matters most now is not what has been, but what will be.

I know God will accomplish wonderful things in Grace Community Church in the days ahead.

Through the faithfulness of God's people, God's ongoing vision will be accomplished!
May each one fare well.

May we all hold to the Apostle's desire:

"However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-- the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."
--Acts 20:24

May Jesus Christ
be Praised!
This Sunday at Grace Community
During the past 3 months, members of our congregation have been sharing powerful testimonies speaking to the topic, "Why I am a disciple of Jesus Christ."

This Sunday, in Pastor Wes' last sermon while pastor of Grace Community Church, he will be addressing that same question based upon Christ's statement: "I am the way, the truth and the life." (John 14:6).  Please be in prayer that this will be an anointed and powerful time of God's presence and the Holy Spirit's work.
Farewell Dinner Filled to Capacity

There is has been a wonderful response to this Farewell Dinner at 5:30 on Saturday evening at Grace Community Church.

Unfortunately, we have reached maximum capacity and regret that we cannot accept any more reservations.

However, there is still plenty of room for the Sunday morning service!  Come out for that as we worship the Lord together!

Student Ministries News
We are preparing to resume our fall ministries!

The teens are preparing for the Back to School Rally on September 4-5 and the Bible Quizzing Ministries are gearing up for a great year in the books of Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon!

Children's Quizzing is also getting ready to resume as well! This year, they are studying Joshua, Judges and Ruth.

We still need you!! We are in need of volunteers for different student ministries areas! Please contact Pastor Matt for more information!
Next Step, Front Step for Pastor Wes
This week, Pastor Wes was elected to become the new Executive Director of Front Step, Inc., in Philadelphia

Front Step is Compassionate Ministry Center with a special focus in the Logan-Nicetown area of North Philly. This organization was started by the Philadelphia District Church of the Nazarene to equip and empower people to reach their potential through education, mentoring, employment and spiritual guidance.

Pastor Wes will begin his new role in this vital ministry at the beginning of September.  He will be commuting to Philadelphia as he and Sarah will continue to live in Ewing. Sarah will continue teaching at Parkway School, this year kindergarten/first grade special education.  We wish them both the very best in this new endeavor! You can learn more about Front Step by clicking here.
Thank you from Pastor Wes
Gratitude is central to my thoughts this week.  As I look back over these years in ministry at Grace Community Church, every direction I look there is reason to praise God and to give thanks.

Thank you to the Lord Jesus Who saved me and gave me life!
Thank you to the Holy Spirit Who sanctifies, guides, comforts;
Thank you to the Father who works so beautifully in "all things." Thank you to my dear wife, Sarah--on this our 26th anniversary--for being a wonderful partner in life's journey.
Thank you to Church leaders and Board Members, now and past;
Thank you to the Sunday School teachers who serve faithfully;
Thank you to those who invest in the lives of children and youth;
Thank you to the congregation of Grace Community Church which has blessed me more than I could ever bless them.
Thank you to all who tithe faithfully and sacrificially so that the ministries of Grace Community can take place.
Thank you to every person who gives of their time and talent to build the Kingdom of God and to care for the ministry of GCCN.
Thank you to each one who prays for God's work and people.
Thank you to every child who brings such joy and rejoicing.
Thank you to Pastor Matt who has worked so hard and done so much to enrich and enliven the ministries of GCCN.

Truth From God's Word
"Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy  because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,  being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus....God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.  And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,  so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-- to the glory and praise of God."
