"A Fiery Death"

May 6, on this day in 1937, the German airship Hindenburg, the largest dirigible ever built, exploded as it arrived in Lakehurst, New Jersey.

The dirigible was the fastest, largest and most luxurious flying vessel of its time. It was more than 800 feet long, had a range of 8,000 miles and could carry 97 passengers.  It had made 10 successful ocean crossings the year before.

A hydrogen gas leak caused the entire vessel to burn instantly. Nearly 1,000 spectators were awaiting the Hindenburg's arrival and said they felt the heat from a mile away.   Thirty-six people died in this tragic accident.

The radio announcer Herbert Morrison gave an unforgettably live account of the disaster, "Oh, oh, oh. It's burst into flames. Get out of the way, please . . . this is terrible . . . it's burning, bursting into flames, and is falling . . Oh! This is one of the worst . . . it's a terrific sight . . .oh, the humanity."

The Bible says of the Day of Judgment, "If anyone's name was not found in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
--Revelation 20:15

Let us do all that we can to help those  we know from that awful end.  Let us pray for them and tell them about Jesus--that their names may be written in the Book of Life!
Mother's Day Sunday, May 10, 2015
"God's will and teaching is written on our hearts..."   So says the Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Romans, chapter 2.

God has put into the life, mind and heart of each person the desire, the hunger, to know Him and to follow after Him. This Sunday, Pastor Wes will continue in the sermon series, "Transformed" as we together seek the transformation God has for each one of us by His Holy Spirit.

Immediately following the Morning Worship Service, there will be a Mother's Day lunch provided by Roger and Yvonne Cheeseboro.

Note: The church photograph that had been planned for this Sunday will be postponed to a later date.
Ladies of Grace Spring Walk

Men's Group on Tuesday

We're down to the last three sessions in this series: "Dunamis: God's Power in Action!"  We have seen some amazing evidence of what God will do when people are truly humble and desperate before Him.  This coming Tuesday, we will see what God did in in Hemet, CA area as well as one other area.   Tuesday evening, May 12 at 7:00 pm, Pastor Wes and Sarah's home.  All welcome!

#yoGo Teen News
What is the Kingdom of God? No, really what is it? Is it a place? Is it a state of being? Can we go on a trip in a plane or train or bus to get there? We talk about how Jesus answered this question during #yoGo Youth Ministries tonight at 7pm. Be there!

Coming up in May, we've got some great events! On May 14-17, Shalyssia and Pastor Matt will be travelling to Eastern Nazarene College for the Eastern Field Regional Tournament! We're so excited!

The Young Adults Retreat dates are now live! We know that it is on June 18-21st.

Teen Camp forms are now available! Please contact Pastor Matt via email at matthew.a.brown615@gmail.com for more information.

May God open your eyes to something new and exciting today!
God bless!
Times of Prayer
As Grace Community Church goes into days of leadership transition, please increase your prayer for the Church and its leadership.  How important that there is wisdom and God's will among all that happens over these coming months!  We will be announcing additional times of prayer as we proceed.  You are invited to join in prayer  this Wednesday evening from 6-8 at Pastor Wes' office or wherever you wish at the church building.
Upcoming Building Repairs
Unfortunately, there are serveral repairs needed on the church property, including two major building issues to address over the coming months.  The most recent fire inspection is calling for us to replace all of the hard-wired smoke detectors in the church building. The second issue is that we have water leaking into the gas lines that supply the five furnaces. That will likely require that all of the underground gas lines need to be replaced.  Please pray that we will be able to accomplish these necessary repairs in an effective and cost-efficient way.

Truth From God's Word
"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-- their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
