" Ups and Downs"

We all have "high" days and "low" days--that's part of life.
Sometimes those days come close together and we are pulled in vastly different emotional directions.

Each year, as we come to Holy Week, we remember the high moments and low moments for Jesus.

The joys of Palm Sunday while the people were filled with adulation.
The poignant evening of Jesus with his disciples at Passover as they worshipped and wondered together.  Then, a few hours later, the betrayal and arrest.
The agonizing day of being demeaned, the torture and the crucifixion.

Not only for Jesus, but for all who trusted in Him, it was a week of untold emotional turmoil.

As we prepare our hearts for Holy Week, we live in days of great extreme. Trials, difficulties, rampant persecution of Christians in many nations.

But resurrection day is coming!  All material conditions are but temporary.
The Lord burst forth from destruction, despair and death and is victorious!

This historical event is also the omega point of the future.  Despite the ups and downs of life, for every believer there is an "up" coming which will last forever!

Whatever you are going through today that seems to overwhelm--remember:
Resurrection is coming!

Jesus tells us:
"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out-- those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned."
--John 5:28-29.

That is the final "up" and "down."

Palm Sunday, March 29, 2015
Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday--the day that Jesus rode triumphantly into Jerusalem as King while many shouted "Hosanna!  Blessed is the King of Israel."  This Sunday we will be remembering and celebrating Jesus not just as the King of Israel, but as the King of the world and the eternal future of every person who has ever lived.

Worship Service begins at 10:45, but come a few minutes early--you don't want to miss the music that the Worship Team will lead us in to begin this time together as we begin the Holy Passion Week remembrances of our living Lord Jesus Christ.
Holy Week, Good Friday, Easter Sunday
Christ made the ultimate sacrifice for us. Because of His great love, we have access to the ultimate joy! There will be a GCCN service of remembrance of Christ's suffering and death on Friday, April 3rd at 7:30 pm.  Scripture and music focused on the great price that He paid for our salvation.

On Resurrection/Easter Sunday Morning, there will be a Church breakfast at 9:30.  Each family is encouraged to bring a breakfast dish to share with others. Following that, a great worship service of praise to our Risen Lord who has vanquished sin and death for every person who puts their faith in Him!  We celebrate together!

Easter Offering for World Missions
The theme for our Easter Offering this year is: "Every Tongue Confess" from Philippians 2:10-11: "At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." We received the ultimate gift when God sent His Son to die for our sin. The funds that we raise in the offering go to support mission work around the world. Our GCCN goal for the Easter Offering is $1,500.00.  Please give generously for this vital ministry.
40 Days of Prayer
These are very important days in our country and world.  The spirit of the antichrist is affecting the hearts and minds of many--we are truly in days of apostasy and error in many ways.  God still changes things in response to the prayers of His people.  Please take time daily to pray for people of our region and for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  God is calling His people to prayer! Please pray for the salvation of souls and the sanctification and transformation of lives for Jesus Christ and eternity.
Updated Church Entry Sign
Our entry sign has gotten an extreme makeover by Nicole Wall.  The previous sign was made from plastic letters and became baked in the noontime sun so that the letters fell off. Nicole made the new sign from cloth and cut out each letter individually.  This give a great appearance for those who arrive at this door--thanks Nicole!
Upcoming Building Repairs
We have two major building issues to address over the coming months.  The most recent fire inspection is calling for us to replace all of the hard-wired smoke detectors in the church building. The second issue is that we have water leaking into the gas lines that feed the five furnaces. That may require that all of the underground gas lines may need to be replaced.  Please pray that we will be able to accomplish these necessary repairs in an effective and cost-efficient way.

Truth From God's Word
Jesus said: "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.  All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.                                                             ----Matthew 25:31-32
