 Thoughts from Pastor Wes

"Christmas Message"

"In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.  This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)  And everyone went to his own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.  He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.!

--Luke 2:1-11
Christmas
The unmentioned person in the nativity biblical accounts is you--Jesus came into this world for you, for me, and He alone is the hope for salvation for every person.

Pastors Wes and Matt join in wishing and praying that the close presence of Christ will be with you this Christmas and in the days ahead--May God Bless You abundantly at this time!
Helping a Family in Need
There is a high school girl who has recently had twins who are premature and still in the hospital--until January.   Grace Community Church is reaching out to help with assistance in a variety of ways. If you are able to provide clothing or basic needs for these young infants, please speak with JoAnne Oliver.   A baby shower is being planned for January 18th.
#yoGo Teen News
On the Night before Christmas, the #yoGo youth room, not a person was there, but we'll come back soon! We shall take a little break for the Christmas time, but don't fear. #yoGo will return on the 7th of January in the New Year!

We start January with two new things to do. First, we travel to Reading, PA for the Winter Jam (10 Bands for $10! Who knew?) Then on MLK Weekend we go to the Refresh Revival. Worship, service and refresh to the Lord anew!

As we celebrate, remember on that night
The Savior of the world was born so that sin would take a hike.

So, enjoy family and friends and people you love
We'll see you on the 7th to worship the King above!
Adult Sunday School Class

We are delighted to announce that a combined adult Sunday School Class will be begin in January and continue until April.  Aron Wall will be teaching a series from the Bible on the life of David-- all are welcome!  Aron has his doctorate in astrophysics and is a scholar at the Princeton Institute for Advanced Studies. It is a great joy to have Aron and Nicole as part of the worshiping GCCN community. Nicole is part of the GCCN music ministries. You will benefit greatly from this biblical teaching series!

Beginning 2015 with Annual Covenant Service
Each year we begin with Covenant Sunday at Grace Community Church.   This service, which was part of the John Wesley-early Methodist practice is a time to remember our commitment to God and our salvation in Jesus Christ.  You can prepare for the Covenant Service by going to our website and reading the documents relating to the Covenant and Covenant Service under the "Membership" tab.  If you prefer a printed copy of these documents, please contact Pastor Wes for a digital copy.
GCCN Church Finances
As we come to the end of 2014, the Church is below the financial threshold for meeting our ministry commitments.  In addition to losing some faithful tithing families who moved to other areas, there has also been continuing hardship in the lives of some within our congregation.  If you are able to give a generous donation as we close this year, it would help greatly in supporting the important ministries of the Church. Thank you!
Men's Ministry--Winter Series 2015

We will take a look at how God is transforming people and communities around the world in the 21st century.  We will also see from Scripture what His will is for transforming our own lives. This men's ministry exists for growth, support, encouragement and to aid in finding God's plan for life.

Truth From God's Word
"An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."  ---Luke 2:9-14
