"Making Butterflies"

How amazing that the earth-bound caterpillar disappears into a homemade cocoon and is transformed into a beautiful butterfly!  Have you ever wondered what the caterpillar thinks about while it is in the cocoon?  Is it bored?  Is it impatient? Is it complaining about claustrophobia or is it dreaming about sunny days of flight?

Sometimes we seem trapped in a tight or dark situation.   It is tempting to think that those days are the "new normal" and that is how life will always be.

It is easy to overlook the transformation that is taking place. Perhaps we longingly remember the days of inching our way along the ground, hostage to gravity and chance.  Perhaps we forget that cocoons are not forever, and that when they break open, it will show that wonderful things have been happening.

God sometimes lets us be pass through dark days.  But it does not mean that He is not working in our lives the miracle of transformation.  Butterflies are not made without long days of darkness and confinement-those are just a prelude to the revelation God has planned.  Know that "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

--Philippians 1:6

Trust that God is indeed using your dark days to accomplish good work in your life. He is with you!

Thanksgiving Sunday at Grace Community

To be fully human includes living with gratitude. To live in the image of Jesus Christ it to know that God is the source of every good thing.

This Thanksgiving Sunday we will sing and testify to the love and compassion of God and His work in our lives. Pastor Wes will preach the influence God has had in the lives of great American leaders as they have followed Him.

There will also be a christening of Graham Chambers during the Morning Service.  Graham was born in early October to Gary and Sasha Chambers.  His older sister is Gabby.

Following the Morning Worship Service, we will have a Thanksgiving Dinner together.  Each family is encouraged to bring a vegetable, salad, and/or dessert to share with others.

Sunday will also be our annual Thanksgiving Offering for World Missions.  Please mark your gift "World Missions" and use one of the Thanksgiving envelopes provided if you wish to support this. The Church of the Nazarene has mission work in 159 world areas.

Thanks to the Wood-Cutting Volunteers!
Thank you to those who were able to help this past Saturday at Earl and Miriam's home!  We were able to split and move enough wood that it should meet their needs for most of this winter.  Earl and Miriam wish to express their deep appreciation to each one.

This coming week, Earl and Miriam will be celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary.  Please bring a card or note of congratulations with you on Sunday if you are able.

Growing Children's Ministry--Volunteers Needed
Grace Community Church's ministry to children continues to advance--praise God! We are in need of additional volunteers as this time so we can provide the best ministry possible. Can you help?

1.) Children's Sunday School Class teachers.  One of the most important ministries of the church is teaching kids in Sunday School--making life-long impact and memories. We are in great need for teachers--would you consider making this investment?

2.)  Nursery worker.  We are in need of 2 more adults who would help in the nursery on a rotational basis, about once per month.

3.) Children's Church leader: This would be about 2 Sundays every two months.  Using the prepared curriculum, this would be ministering to about 6-9 children during the Main Service.

4.) Children's Ministry Leader: someone with a passion for children who would work with the Pastors in guiding and overseeing the various  children's ministries that are developing.

There is no ministry more important than ministry to children! If the Lord is leading you to participate in one of these roles, please contact Pastor Wes at your earliest opportunity.  Thank you!

Good News From God's Word
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were called-- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it."
