Thoughts from

"Days of Elijah"

We love the stories of the Old Testament, particularly the stories where a person was outnumbered or quite certainly on the losing end of their situation.  And then--trusting in God-- they moved forward and great things happened.

Moses and Pharaoh.
David and Goliath.
Jonathan, his armor-bearer against a Philistine army.
Each of these defeated the odds and came out as "more than conquerors" as God met their faith with His power to turn the tables.

One of these, Elijah, was a prophet of God in a time of great spiritual confusion and apostasy in the nation of Israel.
He was pitted against 850 pagan prophets.
Which "god" had the power to rain down fire and consume the sacrifice?
Read the rest of the story in 1 Kings 18.

We live in days of great spiritual confusion and apostasy. Also, the news screams out new words like "ISIS", "Ebola" and older words like "national debt", "war", and "famine and disease."

But God has not changed and His power is not diminished. The Bible says that "the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him."
--2 Chronicles 16:9.

God will stand with, support, strengthen and succeed through those who take risks for Him!  He will meet faith with His almighty power and accomplish results that testify to His authority.

What is God calling you to do for Him these days that you know you could never do in your own strength?
Do you trust that He will meet your obedience with His favor?

Believe and act!
He will not disappoint!
This Sunday at Grace Community
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself." Ok, sounds good.  But how does that translate into daily living?  God has indeed created us in relationship and for relationship--relationships are for eternity.

This Sunday, Pastor Wes will share the second of a seven-part series: "Who is my neighbor--and how can I possibly love all of them?"  Please pray that the Gospel will be shared accurately and effectively. Your prayers make the difference!
Church Dinner this Sunday
Following the Sunday Morning Service, there will be a church potluck dinner.  Each family is encouraged to bring food to share with others, also either a salad or dessert if possible.  This time together will mark the beginning of our "Celebration of Ministry Month".  Stay for this and enjoy fellowship and meet new friends!

Also, on Sunday at 7:00 pm the will be a planning sesson for the upcoming Harvest Festival open to all who would like to attend.
Today! Field Trip to Cape May

We leave at 4:00 pm and should be back by 10:30 pm. This will help in developing our own Caravan program for children of this area.

Good News From God's Word
"Praise the LORD. I will extol the LORD with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate."
