Thoughts from
Pastor Wes

"Patient"

No one that I know likes being in the hospital. From the time of arrival, most of us are already thinking about going home.

So it seems a bit ironic that the label we are given when we are in the hospital is "patient."
Maybe that's wishful thinking!

When we are confined to the hospital, it is easy to have the thought that this illness, this problem needs to get over just as fast as possible so that it doesn't interfere with my life--things return to "normal."

Unfortunately, we know all too well that some things cannot be rushed. Some things will not even improve or we may not even "get better." It is then that we really need to accept the label, "patient."

Many of the great things of life are never accomplished without time--great trees, great rivers, great minds, great character, great souls.

Our human tendencies of rushing and forcing do give results, but often lack the quality that attracts and edifies.

As few of us like to be in a hospital, so few of us like to traverse through times of testing and tribulation that accomplish true growth and healing.  Why did Moses have to spend 40 years as a shepherd before God called him to lead the Israelites out of slavery? Wouldn't a 2 year stint as shepherd have been enough?  Or maybe a six week course in shepherding?
God only knows!

The Bible speaks of the "patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus."
--Revelation 14:12

May we accept that the best work God is doing in us does not always happen quickly.
This Sunday at Grace Community
Great questions are often as vital as "right" answers. This Sunday, Pastor Wes will be sharing the final of three sermons from the great  18th century Christian reformer, John Wesley,  This sermon is built around the question of Jesus: "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his own soul?" Come prepared this Sunday to hear timeless truth of God!
Prayers that Birth Revival
More than any other single thing, our nation needs a turning to God and a fresh outpouring of God's Holy Spirit.   We need a new turning to God in our individual lives as well.  Do you need a fresh touch, a new manifestation of God's power in your life?  Pastor Wes is asking the congregation of GCCN to a 21-day period of prayer that invites Jesus Christ t to do His will in and through us.  Will you be part of this 21-day prayer challenge?  God will bless you through it!  Be one of those who receives God's blessing though this!  This week, please pray particularly for revival for our communities and churches in them.
Developing a  New GCCN Children's Ministry
A new ministry for children is currently being planned and developing--and you can be part of it!  "Caravan" is an excellent, Christ-centered, discipleship opportunity for children that has some similarities to Girl/Boy Scouts with the chance to earn badges, awards--all while kids have a great time.

The next step in development is for GCCN to send some representatives to observe a very successful Caravan program and to gather good ideas.  We would leave for Cape May at 4:00 pm on a Wednesday evening and be back here by about 10:30.  If you'd like to be one of the reps, please let Pastor Wes know as soon as possible.  The date for the trip will be decided based upon the availability of those who are able to go on this important trip.
Membership at Grace Community Church
Are you part of the congregation but would like to have a greater participation in the direction and future of Grace Community Church? Perhaps you have questions about the Church and Christian beliefs?  There will be a membership class in the near future built around your schedule.  If you are interested in being part of this, please let Pastor Wes know by clicking here and we will arrange the date and times.  Four hours total.

Nursery Volunteers Needed
Thanks to our growing nursery list, we are in need of new volunteers to join the two we already have.  We are seeking about 3 more volunteers so that the shared rotation will not take any one person out of the worship services too often.  If you are able to assist with this, please let Pastor Wes know here right now. Sydney, Caleb and Aaron thank you!
