Thoughts from
Pastor Wes

"Crape Myrtle"

When Sarah and I moved into our home four years ago, I didn't have any idea what a Crape Myrtle was. Over time I learned that was the name of the beautiful flowering tree in our back yard that brought us much joy each time we looked at it.

In July this year, while other work was being done on the property, I asked the tree supervisory to trim back our Crape Myrtle.  Next time I looked at it, there were only bare stalks-- no more flowers, not even one leaf.  When Sarah saw it, we wondered if it would even survive.

In these recent weeks we have seen ambitious leaves spring out everywhere. This week, flowers are popping out on a daily basis.  The severe pruning has led to a whole new generation of life and flowers.
Pruning isn't pretty, but it opens up rampant new possibilities.

Where is God pruning you these days?

What needs to be pruned from your life so that new growth can occur?

Jesus says, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

Pruning can cause great fear, even pain. But if God is doing the pruning, He can be trusted to remove from our life for the purpose of accomplishing more good in and through our life.

In your prayer time today, ask the Lord what it is that He would seek to remove.

Ask God for the patience, strength, peace and trust to go through the barren period.

Ask Him to replenish yourself with new growth that witnesses the beauty of Jesus Christ to the world around you.

He will!

God Bless You
this Day!

This Sunday at Grace Community
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we "walk by faith and not by sight" (2 Cor 5:7).  This Sunday Pastor Wes will be sharing the second of three sermons from the great  Christian reformer, John Wesley.  Some have said that John Wesley was the most important Englishman of the eighteenth century because of his devotion to God and care for the souls and lives of men and women. Come this Sunday prepared to hear timeless truth of God
Prayers that Birth Revival
More than any other single thing, our nation needs a turning to God and a fresh outpouring of God's Holy Spirit.   We need a new turning to God in our individual lives as well.  Do you need a fresh touch, a new manifestation of God's power in your life?  Pastor Wes is asking the congregation of GCCN to a 21-day period of prayer that invites Jesus Christ t to do His will in and through us.  Will you be part of this 21-day prayer challenge?  God will bless you through it!  Be one of those who receives God's blessing though this!  This week, please pray particularly for revival for this Nation.  Tomorrow is September 11.
Membership at Grace Community Church
Are you part of the congregation but would like to have a greater participation in the direction and future of Grace Community Church? Perhaps you have questions about the Church and Christian beliefs?  There will be a membership class in the near future.  If you are interested in being part of this, please let Pastor Wes know by clicking here and we will arrange the date and times based upon the participants schedule.
Nursery Volunteers Needed
Thanks to our growing nursery list, we are in need of new volunteers to join the two we already have.  We are seeking about 3 more volunteers so that the shared rotation will not take any one person out of the worship services too often.  If you are able to assist with this, please let Pastor Wes know here right now. Sydney, Caleb and Aaron thank you!

Good News From God's Word
"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  et me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you."
