Thoughts from
Pastor Wes

"Was It Worth It?"

This week we heard really bad news about Iraq.  Cities where America had lost blood and treasure are falling to a brand of militant Islam that is shockingly heinous.

In Iraq in the past ten years, 4,487 American soldiers killed and over 32,000 injured.

Now, as part of the nation falls into a violent chaos, many are asking if our sacrifice was worth it.
I don't know.

There are many things in life, even large, momentous ventures, that have no ultimate value.  One thing I know firmly is that what we do for Jesus, and in his Name, has ultimate and eternal value!
Something you are doing today may seem inconsequential.
But if you are doing what He has instructed you to do, whatever it is,  it has great value in this life and in the life to come.

"Only one life,
T'will soon be past,
Only what's done
For Christ will last."
This Sunday at Grace Community Church
A mark of a healthy body is that it grows in a variety of ways--physically, mentally, emotionally.  A mark of a healthy church is that is also grows in a variety of ways.  During these recent years, God has accomplished some important growth among us.  But He also calls us to advance in all areas that truly matter.  This Sunday, we will step aside from our series on the Letter of James to seek, remember and recommit to what God is calling us to---growth in Christ, in holiness and grace and in outreach.  Pastor Wes will be sharing a very important message on how every one of us can participate in seeing God's work advance and flourish and how we bring joy to God by the growth in our midst.
Dedication of New Church Sign
Following this Sunday's  Service, we will have a brief time of dedication of our new Church sign.  This sign was made possible through kind donations in memory of Doris Cowell, Gary Osinga and Evelyn Mazur.  Our prayer is that this sign will assist in connecting people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the ministry of this Church.  It is indeed a fitting tribute to three dear people who let the light of Jesus Christ shine brightly through them while they were with us and who were faithful witnesses to Christ's call.
Upcoming Women's Event

Good News From God's Word
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,  since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."                            --Colossians 3:23-24
