Scandal of Grace

One of my favorite songs right now is from Hillsong United's album, Zion called Scandal of Grace.

The message of the song is sharing the message of Jesus Christ giving up his life so that I could have freedom. Here's their acoustic version of the song (which is fantastic). Read these words from the second verse, chorus and bridge:

Death, where is your sting?
Your power is as dead as my sin
The cross has taught me to live
And mercy, my heart now to sing

The day and its trouble shall come
I know that Your strength is enough
The scandal of grace, You died in my place
So my soul will live

Oh to be like You
Give all I have just to know You
Jesus, there's no one besides You
Forever the hope in my heart

And it's all, because of You, Jesus
It's all, because of You, Jesus
It's all, because of Your love
And my soul will live
Chaplain Beard this Week
Tom Beard

We welcome Chaplain Tom Beard with us this Sunday. Chaplain Beard is presently serving on special assignment as the chaplain for Wiley Mission in Marlton NJ, a ministry that includes a large Christian retirement community and  an adult medical day care.  Chaplain Tom always brings a biblical and inspiring message.  Pastor Wes will return on Tuesday.

Happy Wednesday! Hope all is well! Let's get busy as we share the teen news.

Tonight, we open up a discussion on purity as we "finish" our theme of Living Out 4:12 in our lives.

Coming up in May, we've got the Eastern Field Regional Teen Bible Quiz Tournament at Eastern Nazarene College and we've got one representative from our church! Go Sadie!
Children's Quizzing Invitational

This Saturday, our Children's Quizzing team will be travelling to Toms River for their first quiz meet! Keep children and Yvonne Hurd in prayer as they take part in this great ministry!

Two Events at New Jersey State House
Thursday, May 1 is the 2014 National Day of Prayer.  A prayer service will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the front steps of the State House in Trenton.  This event is hosted by the Trenton Area Clergy and the Council on the American Family.  The Governor's Proclamation will be read and prayers and praise will be lifted up to our Lord Jesus Christ.

On Monday, May 5 there will be a rally for religious freedom also at the NJ Statehouse.  State and the Federal Governments are restricting the First Amendment and religious freedoms of all Americans.  For example, on November 1, Robert Parker and Don Karns were arrested as "possible terrorists" for preaching and witnessing at Princeton Junction Station, something they had been doing for the past five years.  On November 13, a Rutgers School bus driver, Stan McNeil, was fired for praying with a disabled student. McNeil is a US Navy Veteran and retired firefighter.  Atheist organizations are suing NJ schools for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance because it contains the phrase "under God." Come out and let your voice be heard for religious freedom.
RockSolid Men's Group Next Tuesday
What does God have to do with our work?  Can we actually take God to our place of work?  That is the focus of next week's men's group.  This is the second to the last of the series for this season. Meeting is at Pastor Wes and Sarah's home, 7:00 pm.
Young Adults Retreat
On June 12-15, the Young Adults of the Eastern Field (as far north as Maine to as far south of VA and more!) will join in worship at Montrose Bible Camp for the Annual Young Adults retreat! Would you like to go? Sign up with Pastor Matt or go to Kaleo.eventbrite.com for more information.

What is Kaleo? Kaleo is one of the New Testament Greek words for calling. It means: "to call, to invite, to share, to name, to be selected." The Kaleo life is the life lived in total response to God's Call. What level of Kaleo are you today?
Children's Ministry Leadership Team
We are seeking people who would like to be part of the new Children's Ministry Leadership Team.  This team will develop and oversee effective ministry and events for our current and future children.  If this is something you would like to be part of, please let Pastor Wes know by clicking here and saying "Yes to kids"
Vacation Bible School
This summer, we will be hosting our another Vacation Bible School called Weird Animals. What's up with the name? God filled the world with a lot of crazy creatures...including you! When kids feel weird, different, or lost in a crowd-nothing compares to the extraordinary love of Jesus. This year, we'll learn about different creatures and how Jesus' love is one of a kind. Information is coming soon! This July, we'll get wild!
