"Jesus' Preparation"

From the
Gospel of Matthew:

"Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."

He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter.  "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."

When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!"

Matthew 26:36-46

Good Friday Service of Remembrance
We cannot imagine the degree of suffering and pain that Jesus endured on the day of His crucifixion.  But we are thankful He did!   Grace Community Church will be holding a special Good Friday service this Friday, April 18th entitled: "The Cross, The Blood and The Cost." Through Scripture, music and reflections we will focus on the suffering, death and love of Jesus Christ on our behalf.   7:30--8:30.
Resurrection Sunday, Easter Sunday Morning

This Sunday, April 20th, we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His victory over sin and death.  This will be a great service of praise and honor to God.  We encourage you to bring family and friends to celebrate God's great act of love!

Following the Easter Service, there will be a Grace Community Church catered dinner, provided through the kindness and generosity of congregational members.   Families are encouraged to bring a dessert.  All else will be provided.

Easter Offering for World Missions

Each Easter at GCCN we receive a special offering for missions around the world.  Our goal this year is $2000.00 with all of it going to support missionaries and mission work.  That is an ambitious goal for the Church, but if each person does what they are able to do, we will reach that goal.  These funds make a great difference in the lives and eternity of souls around the world!

New Sign Installed!  Sign Volunteer Needed
The new GCCN sign is installed. It looks great during the day and at night!  Thanks to the families of Doris Cowell, Evelyn Mazur and Gary Osinga who affirmed the memorial funds to be used for this purpose. Thanks also to Paul K., Ken W. and Joe D. who did the work of installing and updating!  We will be holding a special dedication event following the May 18th Morning Worship Service to honor those memorialized by this sign.  May this be effective in drawing more people to God and to Grace Community Church!

We are seeking someone who would give a half hour on an occasional basis to change the text on the sign.  Please speak with Pastor Wes if you would be willing to do this.  Thanks!
