Thoughts From
Pastor Wes

"A Week of Extremes"

This coming week is a week of great highs and great lows:

the celebration of the parade into Jerusalem;

the shock and horror of Christ's torture and death;

the amazement and jubilation of seeing that Christ has triumphed over death!

A week without comparison for the disciples and all  humanity!

It is so easy to go from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday without truly contemplating the great cost and suffering that Jesus went through.

Yet, without the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus, there would be no salvation for you and me.

The hymn says it well:

"Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white
as snow"

Thanks be to God
for His
Indescribable Gift.

Sunday, April 13, Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday
This Sunday we remember the Palm Sunday processional as Jesus was coming to Jerusalem for the last time prior to His crucifixion. The crowds cheered and gave Jesus a royal celebration.  But how quickly they forgot. How soon they gave up!

This Sunday we will remember the first Palm Sunday and examine how God would have us live today.   If you are able, please read Matthew 21: 1-17.  Pray for God's insight, inspiration and blessing.

Good Friday and Easter Sunday
Grace Community Church will be holding a special Good Friday service on April 18th at 7:30 pm.  We will take this evening to focus on the suffering, death and love of Jesus Christ on our behalf.

Then on Sunday Morning, April 20th, we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and His victory over sin and death.  This will be a great service of praise and honor to God.  We encourage you to bring family and friends to both of these worship opportunities.  Following the Easter Service, there will be a Grace Community Church dinner for all.

During the month of April, we will also be receiving our annual Easter Offering for world missions.  Our goal is $2000.00 with all of the funds going to support missionaries around the world.

Good News From God's Word:
"....it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, 'Here I am-- it is written about me in the scroll-- I have come to do your will, O God.'" First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made). Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." ---Hebrews 10:3-10l.
