Breakfast

What did you eat for breakfast? Did you have a bagel or pancakes? What about eggs and toast? How about a classic (and one of my favorites) bowl of cereal? Did you eat breakfast at all this morning? Did you only grab some coffee from your coffee spot on the way to work?

It's been said that breakfast is the most important part of the day. It fills you up with the nutrients, vitamins, energy and other sciency words that people need for the day. However, according to The Huffington Post, on any given day, 31 million Americans skip out breakfast on a given day.

I've missed a number of breakfast meals here and there in my lifetime and I know how I act when I miss mine. I could hide it well and attempt to not let it mess up my mood and attempt to keep my body in check. However, it does. It messes me up.

That one meal (which depending on what my activities for the day are, could be big or small) if missed will ruin the day if I don't get it in my system.

We are busy people. We have deadlines, meetings, events, church events and family gatherings and other things on our plate. It's so weird how seriously busy we are. With all of that being true, where does your "God and I" time fit in? Does it fit in?

I try to have some prayer/devotional time in the morning and end of my day. There are some days in where I don't start the day off with God and well, the day is all messy. My mood is off, my brain doesn't function. I know something is wrong. Even if it's for a moment, I need to have some Jesus and me time in the morning. Not only do I need my actually food for the morning, I need the Bread of Life in my heart and on my mind and on my lips as my feet hit the floor.

So, take a minute to think about this: did you have your "God and I" time today? It could be as soon as you wake or before you sleep. Driving to work or taking the train. Or even for a minute to call on His name or read the Word. Just get it in. It's the most important part of your day.

Emergency Conditions Today
A lot of branches and power lines down and more coming down as it gets windy.  Very dangerous conditions.  Power is out at the parsonage and power lines are down near Pastor Wes' home with utility poles down and low hanging powerlines across the street.   Stay home if you can!  Trees and limbs will continue to fall throughout the day and then there will be very icy conditions tonight.  If you need emergency assistance that members of the Church may be able to help with, please call Pastor Wes at 609-226-9615.   Electrical power is spotty at this point. 9:45 am.

Faith in Action! A Letter from James

Is temptation only a negative thing? As Christians, God is our loving Father, and He allows us to experience temptation daily, so it can't be all bad. The Letter from James that we are studying in the Sunday Morning sermon series is one of the many places teaches us about facing and benefiting from temptation.  God willing, this coming Sunday Morning Pastor Wes will again be leading us in practical, down-to-earth insights from this very helpful letter. You'll likely want to bring paper and pen to take notes.
Bible Memorization Goal: "Sermon on the Mount"
This past Sunday Devon and Mark gave us a good overview of the first 11 verses of this year's memorization--well done!  For most of us, the main challenge is not memorizing, but remembering to to remember.  Find that few minutes each day to commit a verse to memory and you and others will greatly blessed by it!  The Gospel of Matthew, chapters 5-7.  Never to late to start!

Coming: New Faces for Front Church Sign
The prominent sign in front of the Church will be getting a update with our new church name and logo. Also, the letters will be 50% larger so it will be easier to read from Federal City Road and Bull Run Road. This is being done through the generosity of those who donated to the memorial funds of Doris Cowell, Gary Osinga and Evelyn Mazur.  Thank you to the families of these three for supporting this positive change. The new sign faces were ordered this past week from the same company that supplied the original sign in and should be installed by early April.

Good News From God's Word:
"When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. 16 Don't be deceived, my dear brothers.  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first-fruits of all he created." James 1:13-18
