"Is it Cold?"

Ah, winter is upon us. The temperatures are dipping and dropping.
It gets more and more challenging to be active outdoors.  Some people have mentioned this past week how much they "hate" the cold weather.

Cold.
Insufficient warmth.
Less enjoyment.
More discomfort.
Isolation.
Ugh!

Jesus told us that one of the signs of the coming of the end of the age would be that because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold."
Matthew 24:12

Cold hearts.
Low on enthusiasm.
Without passion.
Distant. Isolated.
Lifeless.

One of the best antidotes to being cold is drawing close to the fire, the source of heat. When we are experiencing cold in our spiritual lives, running to God in humility, in prayer, in quietness is moving close to the fire.

And when you are cold it is also good to be close to another person, to share the warmth of intimacy.

Let us be sensitive to our own spiritual temperature and move close to the fire of God and the warm love of others.  Giving of our love and compassion will bring warmth to others as well.

Seasons come and go, but we can be revived and re-fired by the love of God at any time of the year!

December 8, Second Sunday of Advent
"An angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people."  --Luke 2:9-10

The Advent sermon series is entitled: "This Changes Everything!"  During these Sundays we reflect and celebrate that God coming into the world is the center point of history!  Pray and prepare your heart for grasping again the miracle of "Christ, with us!"

Blessing Pastor Cordon and His Family
We will be blessing Rev. and Mrs. Cordon of the Trenton Haitian Church with gifts of food, children's presents and money.  If you are able to contribute, bring these over the next three Sundays and we will present them on December 23.

"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." --Psalm 100
