"Invasion from Space"

Imagine turning on your radio and hearing breaking news about a invasion of Martians that landed in your community.

75 years ago this next week, an estimated 12 million people heard a radio broadcast that Martians had invaded the earth at Grover's Mill, New Jersey. Many of those 12 million panicked, believing it to be true.

(Grover's Mill is about 12 miles from Grace Community Church)

Of course the "news broadcast" by Orson Welles was really a radio play based on H.G. Wells book, "The War of the Worlds"--a science fiction plot in which Martian invaders live off the nourishment of human blood--ugh!

For people who were alive at that time, the emotional impact of these radio play was enormous and unforgettable. My 95-year-old mother did not hear the broadcast, but remembers how distressed and frantic people were. It was one of those moments when human power and capability seemed so small and impotent as word of the "invasion" spread.

While that was science fiction, the Bible teaches that "as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man."
(Matthew 24:27)

But no need to panic, disciple of Christ!  He's coming for you...to be with Him forever!

Matthew Manual
Every person who knows Jesus Christ as Savior has a story of transformation.  Your story is one of the best evidences there is for the truth of Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Jesus has changed your life completely and continues to do new things in you day by day!

When you share your story with others, they will gain first-hand insight into Who God is and What He can do for people. This coming Sunday, Pastor Wes will lead us in remembering and in the 6th part of the sermon series, "As You Go, Make Disciples."  Don't forget to bring your Matthew Manual!  This series is based upon the "My Hope America" materials from the Billy Graham Association.

Final Good News
"We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.   Therefore encourage each other with these words."  --1 Thessalonians 4:14-18
