"SEPTEMBER 11"

September 11, 2001 was a day unlike any other in our collective American experience.

The attacks, the shock, the unfolding horror were all something that none of us had watched before within our country.  The evolving realization that this was not some terrible accident, but rather precisely planned evil by people who had lived among us and had benefited from this nation.

We were reminded of the evil among us on Patriots Day in Boston as two brothers who lived among us perpetrated as much destruction as they could.

During World War II German nighttime bombing raids into England met with the response that entire cities would be under blackout conditions. Everyone would have their lights out for the good of all. The technology has changed greatly and that would no longer help, but one wonders if a whole city could possibly be so unified today as to cooperate with such a rule.  Likely, and sadly not.

We have entered the age when among us are those who are dedicated to the destruction of Western and American Civilization. The question forward is where will they strike next?

Although the terrorists are not just "over there" but also here, as Christians we need not live in the constant state of terror that they seek to accomplish.  To do so is to live not only with terror but with anger and a vengeful spirit.

God tells us, If  it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord....Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
(Romans 12:17-21)

Someone close to you needs Jesus!  YOU can do something about it!

Jesus said, "As you go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit--teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
Christ gives us the great opportunity and privilege of helping to make disciples!

Beginning this Sunday, Pastor Wes will be leading us in a 7-part sermon series entitled, "As You Go, Make Disciples."  If you are able to attend these 7 sevens, you will be more equipped for helping and influencing that person close to you who needs Jesus.

Children's Ministry, Shaping the Future!
Praise God for the wonderful children who are part of GCCN's ministry! Praise God for the wonderful response this past Sunday for volunteers to assist with the Children's Ministry!

Thanks to your response, we can now begin a nursery, children's Bible quizzing, a new children's Sunday School class and improve our Children's Church.

We do still have a couple of specific needs:
1.) If 5 more people would agree to pray for one child each day, then all of our children would be prayed for on a daily basis

2.) We could use one or two more nursery workers.  That would allow each of the the nursery workers to be in the nursery only about 25% of the Sundays rather than about 75% of the Sundays.  Sharing the responsibility makes it easier for everyone.

If you are able to help with either of these, please let Pastor Wes know at RWTink01@gmail.com.  And....thank you!
