"THE QUEST"

A few men gathered in my basement last night for the 24th time since September of last year.  Our motivations included fellowship, but also growth-- to learn and be better at being husbands, fathers, men of God.

Many of the difficulties we lament in society are actually a man problem: men who lack understanding of what it means to be a man, to have good priorities and to live as God intended.

I am reminded of that this morning as there is another breaking news story on  performance-enhancing drug use in major league baseball.  Over the coming days we will learn the names of cheaters who sought to get ahead by breaking the rules.

There is much in life that compels people to do things in the fast, easy, cheap and cheating way.
But the things that matter most, such as character, quality and authenticity are not accomplished that way.

God calls us to other methods. For example:

"The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out."
(Proverbs 10:9)

"If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."
(Mark 9:35)

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."
(Ephesians 5:25)

These men that I have been honored to spend 24 evenings with over these past months are men in whom God is accomplishing a good work.       Men who have their eyes on priorities that matter and have the courage and commitment to do the right thing.

I praise God for them and for what God is doing through them! They indeed know how to be strong, God's way!

God is honored by such men!

 Joys of a Christ-Centered Home
ChristCenteredHome
Families are God's idea! The home and family is the basis of a healthy and blessed nation. Christ is the basis of a truly healthy and blessed home and family. This coming Sunday, Pastor Wes will be teaching on the biblical principles of a Christ-centered home. God designed families and gives us many insights in the Bible for ensuring that they are strong, blessed and joyous.
Thank you! "My Hope America"
The congregation of GCCN responded resoundingly with participation in the "My Hope America" preparation--thank you!  We were able to help equip 21 other churches through the meetings that were held last week.  Please be in prayer for this vital evangelism ministry as we progress forward.  The main part of this outreach will be taking place in early November.
Ladies Tea and Inspiration

Tea and Inspiration is a delightful time for women to take a break and to nourish their mind, body and soul.  It's a time to connect with other women and to reflect on God's blessings and the replenishment that He alone can bring.

We have an opportunity for Tea and Inspiration at the end of June. Our special speaker will be Kerry Powell, from Royersford, PA. Kerry is a wife, mother, teacher and worship leader. Right now, God is placing a new calling upon Kerry's life and her insights will be a blessing to you as she shares her testimony and journey.

This will be on Saturday, June 29 at 2 pm at the tearoom "Paint the Roses" in Hopewell Borough.  To register for this, please contact Sarah Tink by email here.

Shaping the Future: Children's Ministry
If a child is not introduced to Jesus Christ by age 12, there is an 80% chance they will never come to know Jesus Christ as their own Savior and Lord!  How vital that we bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to as many children as possible!

On the afternoon of Saturday, June 22, there will be a "Shaping the Future" conference--a meeting of all who are committed to ministry to children. We will pray, brainstorm and plan our next steps of ministry to children at GCCN.  Starts at 1:30 pm.
Baptism
The Bible tells us that the first act of a new disciple of Jesus Christ is to be baptized.  For example, we are told "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mark 16:16).  On the Day of Pentecost, when the crowds asked how they might be saved, Peter responded: "Repent and be baptized" (Acts 2:38).

What a wonderful way to express our obedience to God and to testify to our self and others that Christ is indeed our Lord!  If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior but have not yet been baptized, contact Pastor Wes now and be part of the upcoming baptismal.
