From Pastor Wes

"Time for Sequestration?"

"Sequestration":
The "big word" in politics over the past few weeks.  Apparently the unthinkable happened this week and now  we are in for doom and gloom.

Sequestration is not one of those words that we often use, certainly not part of my regular vocabulary!  I can't ever recall saying "Let's go sequestering this weekend."

Among the definitions given by the dictionary:
"to set apart, to separate, to hide away, to place in safekeeping."

Must not be what the politicians are talking about, because it sounds like a good thing--a chance for peace, quiet and reflection.

"If we don't come apart, we will come apart" (Vance Havner)

Jesus said, "Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
(Matthew 11:28)

We all know that it is so very difficult to find the time for peace and quiet in our busy, multi-tasking, overly-connected world.

But to find and maintain the peace that Jesus Christ offers, we need to find ways to occasionally turn off some of the the outside lines so we can reconnect with our inside needs.

There is no substitute for a daily time of separation and quiet alone with God and His word, the Bible. If we cannot find that time, we inevitably will starve in our spirit and soul.  When we do find that time, even for a few protected moments, He can fill us and provide the nourishment and sustenance we desire to face all that comes our way.

So, maybe today or this weekend, do a little extra sequestering.  Whether or not it's good for the country, it will be good for you!

God's Call to Holiness!
OakOfRighteousnessIn last Sunday morning's message we saw from the Bible how God calls us to the impossible! To live a life of Christlikeness is impossible for any of us without the Holy Spirit daily filling our lives.  But with God, all things are possible!

This coming Sunday, Pastor Wes will lead us through a biblical overview of how God sanctifies our lives and brings us to the authentic and genuine life of holiness that He calls us to.  You don't want to miss this next sermon in this important series of what is possible because of God's great love and mercy!
Spring Forward, Clocks Change This Weekend
SpringTimeChange
Sorry, but you lose a much-needed hour this Saturday night!  But don't worry, this is really going to help you with all your farming--and you'll get it back on November 3rd anyway.

It seems more like we lose two hours, because it also takes time to going around resetting the clocks, especially the one in the car.  One tip that helps people to adjust is to change all the clocks in the early afternoon on Saturday and then go by the new time.  At least that way you don't lose an hour sleep!  We're thankful for our Praise Team, because with the time change, they get to Church at 7:30 am on the "old time."
