From Pastor Matt
Hurricane Sandy tore up the Northeast portion of the United States. It was devastating and awful and my thoughts and prayers are out to those whoa are
still affected by this.
However, the night that the storm hit, my roommate gets this brilliant idea: "Do you wanna go outside and throw the Vortex Football?" Now for the people who don't know, the Vortex Football is an amazing invention from the brilliant minds of Nerf.
Needless to say,
KIDS DON'T TRY THAT.
Anyway, we go outside and throw the Vortex Howler (which I can't find an advert for) and we have a blast! Throwing the ball, laying out for catches, throwing against the wind.
During the time in where people are completely and legitimately afraid and full of worry, Jon and I find a moment to find peace, fun and joy in the midst of a very terrible storm.
In Mark 4, Jesus is on a boat and this boat is like in the Perfect Storm. People are probably pulling out hair trying to bail the boat out and saving the essentials. The disciples are all like "Jesus, we might die here. Don't you care about the boat and us and the fact that we might die?" Oh yeah, Jesus is SLEEPING. In the middle of the storm. Waves, thunder, lightning, the whole 9. He's sleeping in the stern of the boat.
We know that He says "Peace, be still!" and the waves were still and the storm was done. But at first, he was chilling. You know, when I have problems and issues, I wanna be that cool minded. Obviously we don't, we're human.
After he calms the storms, Jesus says, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Wow.
Having faith in the midst of the storm. That's something that I want in my life at all times. To say, I know that this is crazy right now, but Lord, you've got this. And give it all to Him.
That's what I want.

Final Good News
As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." --Romans 10:11-13
