"Love"

Quick--a skill-testing question:

"What day of the year will have you going out to buy cards and chocolates just to tell someone else that you love them?"

Exactly!

Valentine's Day.

100 points for you!

Next question:

"How many other days of the year do you go out to buy cards just to tell someone you love them?"

Ooops!  I failed.  Zero points for me!

Isn't it wonderful that there are so very many ways we can express love to one another.  Almost hard to beleive there was any love around before Hallmark Cards was started in 1910, but  there was!

Gary Chapman wrote a helpful book on five ways to love others:
quality time,
words of affirmation,
gifts,
acts of service,
and physical touch.  This book is highly recommended for every person, especially couples seeking a healthier and happier relationship.

One can easily make the case that Jesus used all five of these forms of love  with people around Him in the Gospel accounts.

It was  Christ's willing self-sacrifice that showed His love above all other forms.

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13

God's Call to Holiness!
OakOfRighteousness

"Oaks of righteousness."  Authentic. Genuine.
What's the path to get there? We saw this past Sunday that God says we "should" be holy.  He also gives us examples of righteous people in the Bible and elsewhere.  He even commands us to be holy.

This coming Sunday we will see through Scripture how God transforms people to holiness. Don't miss this installment in this important series on being transformed into what God can and will do in our lives!

This "Mission 2013" offering is what allows us to have an Associate Pastor for Children and Youth. as well as maintain our commitments to missions around the world.  Please pray about what you could do for this vital ministry.

Final Good News
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.  This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
