"Found It!"

Over two months ago I lost my watch.  That might not mean much to some people, but because Sarah gave it to me as a gift and  I like being on time, losing my watch has been a nuisance!

This past week

I got it back!

I had set it down someplace after Hurricane Sandy while we were cutting trees.

Kind people found it and gave it to me when they learned it was mine.

It reminded me of the great chapter in Luke's Gospel where there are three stories of loss--

a lost sheep,

a lost coin and

a lost son.

(Luke 15)

Jesus told these three stories at a time when the religious leaders were criticizing Him because "He welcomes sinners and eats with them!"  How unacceptable!

They missed the point that God loves sinners!  He loves them too much to leave them--us--in our sin.

Think of the joy we have when we find our lost watch, keys or a cell phone.   That's tiny compared to the joy God has when a lost soul is found and united with Him for all eternity!

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty one who saves. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

--Zephaniah 3:17

Finally, always remember:

"Honor God and He will honor you!"

Sunday, January 27, 2013: Celebrating God!

This coming Sunday we will be reviewing the wonderful things God has done at Grace Community Church in the past year. We are a Church with renewed life and renewed vision for what God has for us!  Also, there will be elections for the Church leaders for the coming year.  Please be in prayer as we "close the books" on 2012 and take the next steps forward. With God, all things are possible!

New Church Logo

Last Sunday the congregation selected "Option B" as our new Church logo.  In a variety of ways this logo reflects our mission and vision of Grace Community Church. It shows the the elegance of tradition along with the readiness of moving forward in ministry! Thank you to all who voted and Gregg Stirzel for creating this for us!

Mission 2013 Offering Pledge

We need your participation! Grace Community Church can fulfill all the ministry God has for us in 2013 if every member of the congregation is tithing on their income and we are also able to have 25 people who would give $2.00 per day in offerings. This "Mission 2013" offering is what allows us to have an Associate Pastor for Children and Youth. as well as maintain our commitments to missions around the world.  Please pray about what you could do for this vital ministry.  As of this date, we have 7 of the 25 needed to fully fund these ministries.

RockSolid Men's Ministry
Next Tuesday is the last session in the first half of "The Quest" and likely the most important one.

Men, if you weren't able to make it to the session last week, we'll redo that at 6:15 this next Tuesday before we launch into the new session. Just let Pastor Wes know if you need the make-up.
"2012 Paid in Full!"
Praise God!  There has been wonderful response and all our goals have been reached!  Thank you to everyone for the prayers, the donations and the generosity!  Grace Community Church ends 2012 with all bills, budgets and commitments paid in full! This is a great answer to prayer and a testimony to the faithfulness of God's people.
Prayer for Travel and Success
Our Grace Community Administrative Assistant and Treasurer, Ming Lai has arrived today in Taiwan. As the American base representative for missions to Chinese language groups, she will be attending leadership meetings over the next three weeks.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers!
God's Call to Holiness!  Not Just for Saints
One of the greatest gifts God gives and we can have is a holy life! Sadly, satan has been effective in twisting God's gift of "Holiness" so that it is misunderstood and rejected by many.  Next to Jesus Christ and our salvation, the holiness that God brings to life can be one of the greatest joys of life.  Beginning the first Sunday of February, Pastor Wes will be preaching an important sermon series entitled "God's Call to Holiness!"

Upcoming Events

January 20, Special Church Board Meeting @ 4:00 pm

January 26, GCCN Young Adult Ministry brainstorming session,

January 27  GCCN Annual Church Meeting and Celebration

February, Alabaster Offering Month

February 16, Valentines Dinner Sponsored by Youth Ministries

Final Good News
"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.  Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? and goes home.

Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.'  I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."  --Luke 15:4-7
