"A Christmas Tree"
A Christmas tree tells a story for those who know. It is a profoundly poignant record of life, loved ones and memories. We may see a beautifully decorated tree, but if we don't know the stories, it has little meaning to us.
Yesterday, Evelyn M. shared with me some stories from her tree. A star from young Marie and another replicated by Gloria. Small carvings from missionary years in New Guinea. Chains of construction paper links made by young hands. Every decoration had a story, Together they represented 4 generations of family together at Christmas. It is the stories and the memories that give each ornament its great value.
I was changed by listening to Evelyn. When I entered her living room I saw a lovely tree, well decorated, but of little personal meaning to me. As Evelyn shared the story of various decorations, I was changed from seeing her decorations as just pretty objects to to sacred items of family life and history.
For many people, Jesus Christ is just a object of history with no personal meaning. They've heard about Him, they may know some details, but they haven't heard first-hand from someone who has known and experienced His great love in their own life.
There is untold power in telling your story of Who Jesus is. When others hear your story of what He has done in your life,
it has a profound effect.
Your story of Jesus can change a loved one's perspective about Jesus from from a thing to a person, from a historical fact to a vital relationship.
Your story opens ears, eyes and hearts and brings the living Christ to others!
The Apostle Paul tells us: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.... And how can they believe if they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone telling them?
(Romans 10:13-14)
Your story of Jesus can change lives forever!
