From Pastor Wes
"Election Exhaustion?"
Ok, the presidential debates are over. But the mud-slinging is still two weeks from over. You're tired and exhausted of the negative ads --be glad you don't live in Ohio!
It probably won't make you feel any better to know that way back in 1828, the people supporting President John Quincy Adams circulated pamphlets accusing Andrew Jackson's wife of being an adulteress and his mother of being a prostitute!
One thing we can rejoice in is--we actually do get to vote! In some nations, people live their whole lives and never get to vote once. Something else quite amazing, your single vote is equal to the vote of anyone else in the nation.
As Christians, the ballot box is yet another way to live and exercise Christlikeness and biblical principles.
But we don't have to wait for November 6 to live in a Christian way in regard to the election
In 1774 John Wesley gave this wise advice:
"I met those of our society who have votes in the election and advised them
1.) to vote without fee or reward for the person they judged most worthy;
2.) to speak no evil of the person they voted against;
3.) To take care that their spirits were not sharpened against those who voted on the other side. "
Good Advice!

The Church Jesus Builds is in Harmony
 A Church without unity and love among the members is never a good example of Christianity. In fact, it undermines whatever good could be taking place. When Jesus prayed for the Church in John 17, He didn't pray for great preachers, or great worship services or even great numbers. He prayed that "they may be one, even as" God the Father and Jesus are one. Unity, harmony are essential to the Church that Jesus builds. This Sunday, Pastor Wes will lead us in the seventh part of this 11-part series on Christ's plan for His Church. Prepare your heart by praying for God's truth and presence to be with us as we come together to worship Him. |

Final Good News
"Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. --Romans 13:7-8 |
