McClintock Distilling Company's announcement of their plans to open in the fall along Carroll Creek signals that small distilleries may be the next big thing for Downtown Frederick. Last December, City code changes allowed small wineries, breweries and distilleries in the downtown area, paving the way for this growing industry to boom locally.

Craft spirits is a $10.2 billion market and growing at a rapid rate. With the proactive code changes, Frederick has all of the right ingredients for this industry to thrive.

Frederick is a blend of the new and the traditional, and embracing new ideas is a part of our spirit. Having emerging industries call Frederick home not only strengthens our economy, but it complements and diversifies our existing business community.  We welcome this industry to Frederick, and look forward to watching it grow.
