Greetings!

As spring gives way to summer, Frederick welcomes a bounty of activities. Downtown Frederick is known for its outdoor concerts and this summer one more will be added to the lineup.  The Downtown Frederick Partnership brings Frederick's Levitt AMP Concert Series to the City this summer.

These free, family-friendly concerts are open to people of all ages and will be held on Tuesdays from June 16-August 18 at 7 p.m. at the Carroll Creek Park Amphitheater. Frederick was one of just 10 cities across the country selected to receive $25,000 in matching funds from the 2015 Levitt AMP Grant Awards. The City proudly matched a portion of the grant to help bring this concert to Frederick.

According to the Economic Impact of the Arts in Maryland study released by the Maryland State Arts Council, 7.7 million people attended arts events in Maryland in FY2012. The study also confirmed the significant role that the arts play within communities.  Based on the number of visitors to Maryland's non-profit arts organizations, the study estimated spending of $345 million on lodging, transportation, restaurants, gifts, and other travel-related incidentals in FY2012 and a total economic impact of $1.07 billion. Studies calculate that the local leverage is over  $6.5 million in additional spending by arts and culture audiences in the Frederick area.

With the addition of the Levitt AMP Concert Series, outdoor live music can be found in Frederick three evenings a week this summer. The other popular outdoor seasonal concerts include the Summer Concert Series and Alive@5. These events increase economic activity for our local businesses, from gas stations to downtown cafes, and make our city a better place to live, work, and visit.

Events like these provide the great quality of life so many of our Frederick businesses, their employees, and City residents enjoy.  Check out the schedules, and find an evening to take in some great music with friends, family, or co-workers.

Best,
