A core objective for our office is to foster community conditions  which encourage private business investment resulting in new jobs with family supporting incomes.  As a result of the Frederick business community's resilience, unemployment has dropped a full percentage point in the last year to 4.8% in the County and 5.0% in the City.  Nearly half of the jobs (49,000) in Frederick County are located in the City of Frederick and represent a diverse industry set, led by healthcare (17%), education (15%), retail (11%), finance/insurance (10%), and public administration (10%).

If your business is hiring, please remember the various new jobs creation tax credits available at the local and state level, including the New Jobs Tax Credit,  Small Business Tax Credit, and Job Creation Tax Credit. The S.T.E.M. Postdoc Career Fair might be of assistance to you.

In this month's eNEWS, we offer an opportunity to thank our employer's through the Annual Best Places to Work award program.  We also highlight the community commitments of the ARC's Connecting Workers & Businesses program and Frederick County's Youth Works program.
