Greetings!
National transportation policies are being strongly debated because of the critical relationships between US economic health, access to jobs, freight movement, and exports. It is clear that local communities are beginning to take the lead in transportation innovation as federal dollars are shrinking, congestion is reducing productivity and quality of life, and employers are seeking to provide transit options for employees. Here in Frederick we are seeking to become more multi-modal than ever before by linking roads, rails, trails, and sidewalks. The City is investing in projects like linking the Golden Mile to Downtown by connecting Rock Creek and Carroll Creek trails, and extending Carroll Creek Park to the east. Recently the City opened the center section of Monocacy and Schifferstadt Boulevards including new pedestrian and bike connections. Frederick is seeking to lead transportation innovation in the future which is linking Frederick residents to jobs of the future.
Best,
Richard G. Griffin, AICP, CEcD Director Economic Development
