2nd Annual Bucksport Arts Festival, 8/13

The 2nd Annual Bucksport Arts Festival will be returning to the waterfront walkway this summer on Saturday, August 13th with a few familiar faces. Over 75% of artists who participated in 2015 have already registered for the 2016 festival, and registration continues to grow each month as new artists apply before the July 15th deadline.

It's no surprise that many artists are choosing to come back to Bucksport. The location is ideal to draw summer tourists wandering along the coastline, and the views are unmatched by any local festival. Artists that participated last year reported "it was my best single show day ever" and "it was a record breaking day". Advertised throughout the state, the festival brings in visitors and shoppers from across Maine and New England.

In addition to returning 2015 artists, several new artists will be joining the festival this coming August.

The 2nd Annual Bucksport Arts Festival will be held Saturday, August 13th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on the waterfront walkway. In addition to artists and craftspeople, there will also be local food vendors and music for all to enjoy. The event is being organized in partnership with the Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society (BACAS), an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the cultural and performing arts for Bucksport and surrounding communities. Visit www.bacasmaine.org for more information on their upcoming events, or to apply for the Bucksport Arts Festival.

The 2016 Bucksport Arts Festival is made possible by Seaboard Federal Credit Union with additional support by WLBZ 2. Seaboard FCU is a member-owned cooperative, whose mission is to provide quality financial services to all members at fair and reasonable rates and terms.

Duck Dash Adoption Centers Wanted

Saturday, June 25, 2016 during Orland River Day is our fourth River Duck Dash.

Hundreds of rubber ducks are "adopted" for $5.00. When you adopt a duck you will receive your certificate with your ducknumber on it. Each duck has a number on the bottom that corresponds to your adoption certificate. The ducks are dropped into the Narramissic River in Orland, and the first duck across the finish line wins. The grand prize is $500.00!!

We are hoping you will designate yourself as an "adoption center" and hold the certificates. If you can sell ten duck certificates or more we will have a very successful, fun event to bring to Orland River Day this year. Please contact us at the Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce to request your certificates, 469.6818 or reply to this email. You will be advertised as one of the adoption centers to encourage people to come to your business.
Stripes is a star

Stripes Stripes - ~2-3 y/o NEUTERED male - brown tabby shorthair

Stripes is a large and gentle boy. At the moment, he is reserved and shy but as you can see, he enjoys people's attention and giving headbutts. He even likes being brushed. Once he gets used to his surroundings, he comes out of his shell to explore.

Stripes seems to like other cats, not sure of dogs. Quick movements and loud noises still make him nervous so he will do best in a quiet household.

Call the Animal Control officer, Dan Joy, at 469-7951 for more information about adopting Stripes.
