| No-Fee Financial Coaching Available
Tom Stewart of Armed Forces Services Corporation (AFSC) will provide one-on-one financial coaching services to consumers who are economically vulnerable. He will maintain office hours at Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC) and Washington Hancock Community Agency (WHCA) in Ellsworth, as well as conduct community outreach activities in places including the Orland Community Center.
The goal is to help these clients proactively take control of their finances at crucial moments in their lives, and empower them to make better-informed decisions regarding consumer financial products and services.
Clients will be led through through a collaborative process that guides them in setting or refining their goals, developing action plans to meet those goals, coaching them in goal advancement and ultimately achieving the goal(s). Tom will help clients stay on top of their goals and monitor and document their progress over time using a case management and outcome tracking system. For many clients, the work with a financial coach will empower them to proactively take control of their financial lives.
The Financial Coach will:
Leverage financial coaching techniques to assist clients in achieving specific short-term and long-term financial goals
Deliver focused financial coaching strategies that promote behavior change such as goal-setting, accountability, and confidence-building
Develop strategic, behavior-focused activities to help clients meet their financial goals
Identify appropriate ways to support client's goal achievement using coaching skills (accountability, check in/follow up)
If relevant to the clients' goals, the financial coach may provide information, guidance and assistance in:
Budget/financial planning
Debt reduction, management and avoidance strategies
Savings strategies and methods (e.g. how to save for emergencies, unanticipated contingencies, and major purchases such as a house or car)
Credit management (e.g. credit repair or credit building)
Information and/or referral as required based on the client financial needs and goals.
Work with host organization to identify strategies to ensure that potential clients are aware of the coaching service being offered and are being referred appropriately. If needed, coach may need to conduct outreach and distribute marketing materials.
Work with host organization to identify appropriate and responsive organizations for referral if a client issue presented is beyond the scope of the coach's expertise
Provide host organization and local community based organizations with information and materials outlining coaching services and benefits
Complete established intake process for all clients, ensuring all appropriate information is correctly recorded in financial coaching case management system
Create and maintain case files, data bases and other reports to monitor client progress and program outcomes
Conduct intake discovery interview and needs assessment with clients and establish current financial (health) baseline
Facilitate clients' exploration of their financial situation, personal and family needs, and development of near- and long-term goals
Determine client eligibility for specific social services, financial stability and asset building programs

Camden National Bank is growing
The Bank of Maine will merge into Camden National Bank creating Maine's largest community bank. The combined organization will operate under the Camden National Bank "We are excited to welcome The Bank of Maine employees and customers to Camden National. The union of these two great organizations will redefine what it means to be a community bank," said Gregory A. Dufour, president and chief executive officer of Camden National Corporation and Camden National Bank in a press release. Upon completion of the transaction, Camden National will have a combined network of 68 branches and three specialized lending locations. Robin Bray Museum-Based Learning Awards
On March 24, Blue Hill Consolidated seventh grade students came to the Wilson Museum's Hutchins Education Center with teacher Kyle Snow. Kyle is one of the two area teachers to receive this year's Robin Bray Museum-Based Learning Awards. The unit that he is teaching in conjunction with the Award is The Blue Hill Peninsula in the Civil War, and it draws on resources from the Wilson Museum and the Blue Hill Historical Society.
During their March visit, the students attended a reading of excerpts from the Museum's collection of Civil War letters and diaries. This program, arranged by Paula Dunfee, included information about camp life, soldier's clothing, and rations. The class will visit again in May to tour the Museum and to give a presentation of their own research and projects on the Civil War.
Applications for next year's Robin Bray Museum-Based Learning Award are due June 1, 2015. This Award is open to Blue Hill Consolidated School and Bucksport Middle School teachers. The Award recipient will create and teach a curriculum unit using Wilson Museum resources. The Award will provide the teacher with a professional development stipend and access to Museum resources as well as a field trip to the Wilson Museum for his or her class. | Wreaths Across America will be hosting their first Veterans Open House

FREE "Cooking Matters" Class Series

What: Six free classes about how to prepare healthy, delicious meals and stretch your food dollars.

RSU25 Adult Education and Healthy Acadia are excited to offer a free six-class Cooking Matters series on Wednesdays beginning in March and continuing into May. The series will offer participants an opportunity to learn about easy ways to prepare healthy, delicious meals and stretch food dollars.
In each class, participants will work together to create a meal and enjoy sampling their completed dishes. Free take-home ingredients will be provided for participants to recreate the meal at home. A recipe book and other helpful kitchen tools are also provided to participants to support cooking at home.
This Cooking Matters class series is geared to engage community members who are experiencing low income with knowledge and skills to eat healthfully on a limited budget. Participants are requested to commit to all six classes in the series.
The series is coordinated by Healthy Acadia's Nutrition Education Initiative in partnership with RSU 25 Adult Education.

Department of Labor Offering Workplace Safety Classes in April
The Maine Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Standards is hosting its no-charge safety courses for employers throughout April.
Courses are held at no charge to employers and their employees to ensure and promote safety in the workplace. The courses are held at the SafetyWorks! Training Institute at the Maine Department of Labor, 45 Commerce Drive in Augusta unless otherwise noted.

Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Coalition in collaboration with the Bucksport Senior Center Presents:
April 14th, Healthy Living Program on Healthy Eating and Fitness
"Healthy Living" is a series of workshops designed for adults age 50 or older to help them plan for their future as they age in their own homes. A combination of presentations by local health care and service providers combined with a spirited open discussion over lunch have made this a helpful and fun event worth getting out for!
Eight, 2-hour workshops will be held at The Senior Center in Bucksport on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays throughout the spring. Feel free to drop in any time. Lunch will be provided. There is a $4 donation suggested.
Workshops will focus on: active living, healthy eating, fitness, home maintenance and repair, insurance and financial considerations, legal matters associated with aging, health and safety issues and communication about needs with friends and family members.
Participants will receive a 50-page bound resource directory that contains contact information for hundreds of current local area resources, which participants can draw on to insure for a healthy, safe and happy retirement. Lunch will be provided as part of the program. There is a suggested donation of $4 per workshop.

GK wine tastings return in May
Every third Thursday from May until December, the Good Kettle holds a Benefit Wine tasting to support local non-profit organizations.

| BSB Supports Communities Affected by Mill Closings
The Bangor Savings Bank Foundation, along with the Maine Community Foundation and John T. Gorman Foundation, recently announced they are together providing $75,000 to address immediate needs of displaced workers and their families, as well as other community members, who have been affected by recent mill closures in northern and eastern Maine.
The bulk of the funds go for heating assistance and food programs across the region, and some funds also support grassroots community development efforts in the Millinocket area. The funds - which are available immediately - will go to four agencies: Good Shepherd Food Bank, Penquis Community Action Program (CAP), Washington Hancock Community Agency (WHCA), and Our Katahdin.
If you need assistance or know a community member in the affected region who does, you can find the nearest heating assistance for your area by calling 2-1-1. Food assistance will flow through local food pantries.

Parenting young children is a challenge to all. New information on parenting and child behavior is now available for parents and care providers of children ages one through four.
This series of three, free 1.5-hour classes for parents of kids ages 1 through 4, will cover discipline methods that work, how to prevent tantrums, establishing routines to make life easier, and much more.
The class consists of video vignettes, discussion, and activities.

From May to December, the Good Kettle in conjunction with Spectrum Generations and the Eastern Area Agency on Aging presents The Memory Cafe on the third Monday of every month from 10 am - 11:30 am. After taking a winter break, the Cafe starts up again on May 18th.
About The Memory Cafe These gentle gatherings are not just for people suffering from memory loss, but also their care companions. No one is going through this alone, and this is a fine opportunity to talk to others in the same boat. Enjoy the coffee, music, art and make new friends!
