What has ignited this vulnerability fire? Brene Brown, Author of Daring Greatly is at fault. I saw her on Oprah and TED Talks. Her words punched me in the gut and inspired me at the same time. Her discussion about vulnerability and authenticity challenged what I believed for so many years. Yes, I believed that vulnerability and authenticity were necessary to living well. But it goes beyond that. They are necessary to living whole and letting your heart have a place in your life, thinking and actions. True vulnerability and authenticity asks that we strip ourselves of titles, shoulds, damaging rules and self-limiting beliefs we have carried that are such a part of 'us', we think it is us. It makes us stop, breathe and start to create new roots anchored in truth.
"Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path."
~ Brene Brown
What does this mean? It means that if you are willing, you can begin a journey that has amazing implications for a quality of life that can be rich, joyful and in line with your passions. You can be happy and fulfilled in work and play. However, there is a cost. You have to be willing to open your kimono and let people see who you really are. It doesn't mean running through the streets waving your new found vulnerability flag. It means working at it every day and letting vulnerability unfold as you walk in your journey.
I have been bitten by the vulnerability bug and it is too good to let it go. It is too important. There is so much to gain personally and in the work that I do. I am calling you to action. Join me on this wonderful vulnerability journey. Let it be the spring board for authentic change.

A Must Read...
In The Gifts of Imperfection, Bren Brown, a leading expert on shame, authenticity, and belonging, shares ten guideposts on the power of Wholehearted living-a way of engaging with the world from a place of worthiness.
Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what, and how we should be. We are led to believe that if we could only look perfect and lead perfect lives, we'd no longer feel inadequate. So most of us perform, please, and perfect, all the while thinking,"What if I can't keep all of these balls in the air? Why isn't everyone else working harder and living up to my expectations? What will people think if I fail or give up? When can I stop proving myself?" (Amazon.com)
