Jacksonville Port Ministries

Chaplain Anna Guy had the opportunity to travel to Tampa to speak at a Women's Retreat for the Tampa Bay Association. There was a very good attendance and she was able to speak with volunteers from the Tampa Area Port Ministry. She had the privilege of sharing in the Easter visit to the Carnival Fascination where they distributed nearly 400 packets to crew members. She got to renew acquaintances with some she had met on an actual cruise in January. The crew members are so very thankful for this ministry and you'll hear more about that ministry in a separate article in this newsletter. One of the crew members approached us in tears. She shared that her grandfather in Boston had taken a terrible fall and requested that we pray for him. When we returned to the crew mess hall, we shared with Chaplain Charis Williams who has a Chaplain friend in Boston. She immediately began to reach out to contact them to see if they could make contact with this grandfather. Pictured below is Chaplain Guy and Chaplain Lou Mace visiting with Clarence, one of the fine waiters who served them during their January cruise!

We continue to receive financial gifts from churches for which we are very grateful. We're also thankful for donations from Trinity Baptist Keystone Heights and we've received several crocheted hats from Lake Shore Baptist Church. Sorry if we missed anyone! We appreciate all the donations, gifts, financial support, and especially your prayers.

We really appreciate the invitations to speak and remind you that we would be happy to come to your church as well. It is always our joy to share about the Port Ministry.

Jacksonville Cruise Ministry Updates

Chaplains Williams and Mace recently had the privilege to go on a 5-day cruise on the Carnival Fascination. They even received crew members family passes from Ship Security which allowed them to spend time with the crew. One day they went to visit at their lunch time in the crew mess. The crew asked the chaplains to join their bible study after work. They met at 10:00 p.m. and the bible study lasted until 1:00 a.m. for all 5 nights. It was great singing, praising the Lord and studying His word. On the third evening, they met a crew member from Honduras. He said he saw us meeting the first 2 nights and his heart said go talk to them but his head kept hearing no. He had been a Pastor in Honduras but since he had worked at Carnival for 2 years, he left the church and was sinful. We talked and prayed and he attended the bible study until he had to leave for work. He wanted to see us again the next day and he rededicated his life to Christ. He prayed in Spanish and we spent about an hour praying and sharing with him. He joined the bible study that evening and asked the group to please pray for him and help him. On the next visit to the ship, we saw him. He is so happy and looks and acts like a different man. We are so grateful for what God is doing on this ship with the crew members. Please continue to pray for this wonderful, unique ministry which reaches out around the globe right here in Jacksonville.
