WINTER PARK'S ULTIMATE FOODIE FESTIVAL
The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce's annual showcase of local eateries has grown over the years to be known as "the ultimate foodie festival." The 31st Annual Taste of Winter Park presented by CenturyLink is expected to live up to the moniker on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the Winter Park Farmers' Market. More than 40 of the area's top chefs, bakers, caterers and confectioners are expected to participate.

"The Taste of Winter Park attracts residents and visitors to experience a unique recipe of fine food, drinks and live music in downtown Winter Park," said Patrick Chapin, President/CEO for the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce.

Guests' palettes will be tempted by a variety of cuisines as well as decadent desserts and refreshing beverages. In addition to the delicious dishes, guests will enjoy live entertainment by saxophonist Johnny Mag Sax, a silent auction and a drawing of chance for a trip for two to Ireland courtesy of GO Travel and Trafalgar/Brendan Vacations, valued at $1,000. The drawing will be held during the Taste of Winter Park event. The drawing winner may select from either a self-drive or locally-hosted rail package. Tickets are available for $10 each, or three for $25. Must not be present to win. The silent auction will feature a variety of sports, dining and cultural packages from local businesses.

The 31st Annual Taste of Winter Park will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Winter Park Farmers' Market, 200 West New England Avenue, Winter Park, 32789. Tickets are available for $40 in advance for Winter Park Chamber members, $45 for non-members and $45 for everyone at the door. Youth Leaders Class XVI
Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can now apply online to be part of Youth Leaders Class XVI! The application now includes leadership in action essay prompts and a resume submission. Accepted students will have an opportunity to build on their resume throughout the one-week program and on the last day will be presented with revisions, feedback and advice to use for college and job applications. Spread the word! Application deadline is May 11, 2016.
 
Leadership Winter Park Class XXVII
Leadership Winter Park is a program of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce that identifies and promotes potential leaders from the business community who desire to become more involved in making a difference in Winter Park. The program is a community-awareness, leadership preparation effort and offers a behind the scenes look at and study of the critical issues and challenges facing Winter Park. City of Winter Park: At a recent commission meeting, the City received its 36th Tree City USA, 26th Tree City USA Growth, and second Tree Line USA Utility recognition by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

Employment Technologies: Employment Technologies President Joseph Sefcik will serve as a panelist in the American Bar Association's (ABA) 2016 National Symposium on Technology in Labor and Employment Law in Washington, D.C.'s Palomar Hotel, on Friday, April 8. Sefick was selected to serve on the symposium's panel discussion "Hiring Tech: Computer Games, Homework and Videos in Hiring and Onboarding." His firm, Employment Technologies, headquartered in Winter Park, Florida, is the world's leading developer of employment simulations and a pioneer in the use of simulation as an advanced hiring technology. 

Iberiabank: The bank recently donated $10,000 to support Community Based Care of Central Florida. The donation will be added to a risk management pool that helps youth in foster care obtain vehicle financing. According to the organization, youth that have been involved in foster care as older teens are less likely than their peers to have access to a reliable vehicle which inhibits their ability to sustain employment.

Orange County Clerk of Courts: Vacation season is right around the corner!  The Clerk's Office is hosting Passport Week from April 18 - 23 to make getting a passport more convenient for local residents. Throughout the week the Passport Division at the Orange County Courthouse will stay open an extra hour and a half until 5:30 p.m. to allow customers to apply for a passport without having to take time off of work or school. In addition, passport services will be available at our Winter Park and Apopka branch locations on Saturday, April 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For information on the passport application process, please visit www.myorangeclerk.com.

Winter Park Day Nursery: The 2016 Orange Blossom Jubilee, Winter Park Day Nursery's signature annual fund-raising event, raised more than $30,000 to benefit the day nursery's efforts to provide high-quality preschool education to local children. More than 150 people attended the event at the Orlando Science Center.
