MAXIMIZE YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN 2016
The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce is here to help you grow your business in 2016.  Whether we are encouraging your attendance at an upcoming event, advocating on your behalf at City Hall, or marketing our community as a great destination for cultural experiences, shopping and dining, everything we do is with you, our members, in mind.
 
If your New Year's resolution is to be a more active member in 2016, we have several opportunities for you to develop relationships, increase your brand awareness and build your business this month.
  1. Attend one - or more - of our upcoming events.  
  2. Get involved in a committee or solutions group.  Event committees for Autumn Art Festival and Taste of Winter Park are already underway.  Contact Ashley Fraebel at afraebel@winterpark.org to get involved.
  3. Send new employees to Member Orientation.  If you have new employees that would benefit from learning about the Chamber, or if you need a refresher on member benefits yourself, contact Jay Rupert at  jrupert@winterpark.org. The next session is Jan. 20.
  4. Review and update your Online Membership Directory Listing.  Ensure your contact information and business description are accurate.   Click here to search for your listing.  Send changes to tnowotny@winterpark.org.
  5. Interact with the Chamber on Social Media.  You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn sharing updates about the Chamber, our members, and encouraging people to #shopsmall, #shoplocal and #AlwaysBuyChamber.

This Chamber-sponsored networking group meets twice each month on the second and fourth Tuesdays at The Bistro on Park to exchange leads at 11:45 a.m. Only one member per business category can participate. Work Well Winter Park is a movement spearheaded by the Chamber to improve the health and well-being of the workforce in our community.

Bike to Work Fridays
Healthy Central Florida, Florida Hospital and the Winter Park Health Foundation are encouraging Central Floridians to join a new initiative in 2016 - "Bike to Work Fridays."
The movement, spearheaded by Healthy Central Florida, is aimed at encouraging exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. 

"This is the time of year when many people are setting new health and fitness goals, and 'Bike to Work Fridays' is a great opportunity to incorporate exercise into your daily routine," said Jill Hamilton Buss, executive director of Healthy Central Florida. "With I-4 traffic getting worse and the weather getting better, now is the perfect time to try riding your bike to work."

From weight management to stress and anxiety reduction to boosting brain power, the benefits of exercise and bicycling are numerous. You can share your experience by using #biketoworkcfl on social media. For more information on this new health initiative, please visit healthycentralflorida.org.

MEMBER ORIENTATION 
All new Chamber members or new staff members of existing members are invited to attend our monthly Member Orientation. This is a great way to connect with fellow members and Chamber staff, learn more about the organization and identify opportunities to maximize your membership. The next orientation is Wednesday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Winter Park Welcome Center. Brio Real Estate: The firm recently brokered the sale of two adjacent properties on Edgewater Drive in Orlando in the fourth quarter, consisting of an industrial building, and an adjacent 1.1 acre vacant parcel. The properties sold for approximately $700,000.

Community Based Care of Central Florida: The region's leading nonprofit organization overseeing foster care, adoption and other child welfare services will host an orientation and training course in Spanish for prospective foster parents.The next PRIDE (Parent Resource for Information, Development and Education) course begins Jan. 11 and continues the following eight Mondays from 6 to 9:15 p.m. The course will be held at CBCCF's Osceola County office at 111 E. Monument Ave., Ste. 5 in Kissimmee. PRIDE classes will also be offered in Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties for English-speaking prospective foster parents. Passport to Winter Park: Now launching a new section, "Off Park," which will run in the upcoming Spring/Summer edition. The section offers an affordable option for small businesses ads that are ¼ the cost for ¼ the size. Cost to participate is $350 for 6 months. MLK Vigil

Join Rollins College for an annual vigil celebrating the life and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year's vigil includes song and dance, highlighting the theme of 'Lift Every Voice.' The Center for Contemporary Dance will perform, as will the Meadowbrook Middle School dance program.
