BE PART OF LEADERSHIP WINTER PARK
You've dropped the kids off at summer camp and booked your beach retreat for Fourth of July... the dog days of summer are definitely upon us! But now is the time to plan for Fall 2015 and submit your application for Leadership Winter Park Class XXVI.

and challenging content that it transforms you in many ways. This shared experience bonds you with your classmates and to the larger community of Leadership Winter Park grads."

VISION WINTER PARK

The City of Winter Park has officially launched Vision Winter Park, a year-long process to guide the city's future.

 

It is important for Winter Park residents, business owners and community leaders to be involved in Vision Winter Park. Your participation is key to the success of establishing a citywide vision.

 

Phase One: Community Talks is currently underway. Visit www.visionwinterpark.org to register and answer a few short questions. The goals of this phase are to:

  • Gain feedback on the overall process
  • Find out how to reach others
  • Identify willingness to co-create the plan
  • Identify the unsung heroes already working to make
    Winter Park a special place.

Leadership Winter Park

Leadership Winter Park identifies and promotes potential leaders who desire to become involved in making a difference in Winter Park. Programs offered for youth and adults.
 

YOUTH LEADERS

Youth Leaders Class XVI begins its first session on June 15 with 25 rising sophomores, juniors and seniors spending 5 days building new leadership skills, exploring our community and identifying volunteer and career opportunities. A graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 19 at the Civic Center. A second session will also be held in July. 

 

CLASS XXVI Applications Due June 26

Leadership Winter Park is actively seeking candidates for its next class beginning in September 2015. Are you looking to build new leadership skills, build long-lasting professional relationships and get an insiders' look at what makes our community tick? Park Avenue Merchants Association
The Park Avenue Merchants Association consists of Central Business District merchants and non-retail members committed to the betterment of the Park Avenue area.

Cornell Fine Arts Museum: The Museum recently acquired its first Old Masters painting in more than a decade. Saint Francis Xavier Baptizing the Indians by Francesco Solimena (1657-1747) is a previously unpublished early work (ca. 1680-85) by the master whose dramatic frescoes and altarpieces were among the most famous and highly regarded in the first half of the 18th century in Naples. The painting was purchased by the museum in honor of Kenneth Murrah, former chair of the Board of Visitors, steadfast friend, and generous supporter. It underwent conservation in New York City and will be the subject of a lecture by Dr. Rangsook Yoon, Dale Montgomery Fellow at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, on Friday, June 26 at 11 a.m. The lecture is free and open to the public.
 

Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A.: Senior Associate Jill Davis Simon has been re-elected to the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) Young Lawyers Section Board of Directors. Additionally, she has been appointed as Secretary. Having been an active member of the OCBA since 2008, Ms. Simon has spent seven years giving back to the organization and building her credentials. Past accomplishments include service as Communications Coordinator, and several years chairing the Young Lawyers and Law Clerks Reception Committee.

Winter Park Day Nursery: The 2015 Orange Blossom Jubilee, Winter Park Day Nursery's signature annual fund-raising event, raised more than $40,000 to benefit the day nursery's efforts to provide high-quality preschool education to local children. More than 130 people attended the event Interlachen Country Club. The Orange Blossom Jubilee featured dinner, silent and live auctions, and games.  Scott Maxwell served as event host and Bonn-J Contracting, Inc. of Florida and 4Rivers Smokehouse were the presenting sponsors.

Olde Fashioned 4th of July Celebration

Central Park
Wear your red, white and blue, bring a blanket or beach chair, and gather with family and friends to enjoy this Winter Park tradition. The special 20th anniversary celebration will feature live patriotic music performed by the Bach Festival Choir and Brass Ensemble joined by Central Florida Community Arts, Clydesdale horse-drawn wagon rides, Orlando Cloggers, Rockin' Roadster Road Show and much more! Children's activities will include the annual bicycle parade at 9 a.m. (lineup begins at 8:30 a.m.) from City Hall to Central Park, as well as fun games and inflatables. Free hot dogs, watermelon and water will available for all to enjoy, while supplies last. Free bike valet service will also be available.
